  • Kobe Zac
    Hyogo Kobe-shi Nagata-ku Hiyoshicho 3-1-31
A shop specializing in mountain climbing gear from the handmade Kobezac brand. Since its establishment in 1971, it's been selling the original designs of the Zac brand manufactured at its own factory. The rugged and functional backpacks have accompanied climbs of Yalung Kang and Everest in 1973 and the Gasherbrum summits in 1998. The brand is particularly popular with Japanese mountaineers for their distinctive fit. In addition to alpine rucksacks for full-on mountaineering, they also have rucksacks ideal for walking and trekking, and even canvas rucksacks for strolling around town.
  • Montbell Rokko Store
    Hyogo Kobe-shi Nada-ku Sakuraguchicho 1-1-7
This outdoor shop is located in the foothills of Mt. Rokko, which has long been a familiar destination for outdoor activities such as hiking and rock climbing in the Kansai region. The first floor of the shop is a Montbell store that sells equipment for outdoor activities such as rock climbing and hiking. The second floor of the shop is a members-only climbing gym. The climbing walls on the side of the building closest to Mt. Rokko were recently refurbished. They provide climbing challenges ranging from the beginner to advanced levels requiring technical movements. Beginners can enjoy bouldering while receiving careful instruction. The gym also features an alpine climbing wall where it is possible to practice the ropework that is used on actual rock walls.

Hyogo Areas

Hyogo prefecture stretches from the north coast to the south coast on the western end of the popular Kansai region, encompassing verdant mountains, urban beaches, and fantastic historical sights. The prefecture’s main attractions lie along the south coast at Kobe, the prefectural capital, a pretty harbor city best known for its production of the renowned Kobe beef, and Himeji, the home of Himeji Castle, one of the country’s most beautifully preserved feudal castles, perched magically atop a hill.
