  • Expo’70 Commemorative Park

    Boasting a size about 65 times that of the Koshien Baseball Stadium, the Expo ’70 Commemorative Park is a huge park built on the site of the Osaka Expo. Whether for children or adults you can enjoy a day of activities here with facilities ranging from cultural facilities and natural and cultural gardens to the Japanese Garden and an onsen (hot spring facilities). Also, in the central rest area of the Japanese Garden you can see videos of the Expo that took place here in 1970 making it an important place to witness the events that occurred. Access the park from Bampaku-kinen-koen Station on the Osaka Monorail.
  • Minoo Park

    This natural park extending along the northern mountainous district of Mino City has close to 1,000 varieties of plants and is inhabited by more than 3,000 varieties of insects. Visitors can enjoy a variety of nature in all four seasons such as spring’s cherry blossoms and winter’s frost-covered trees and icicles, but the changing leaves in autumn are particularly beautiful. This is also known as a famous place for its waterfall, and the Mino-no-Taki waterfall with a width of five meters and a drop of 33 meters has been designated as one of Japan’s top 100 waterfalls. A hiking course follows a mountain stream from the bridge at the park entrance to the large waterfall, and is constantly traversed by people throughout the year. The park is approximately 30 minutes by train from downtown Osaka.
  • Hattori Ryokuchi Park

    This is one of Osaka Prefecture's most famous green areas and is only a five-minute walk from Ryokuchi-koen Station. This area of land, which is 33 times the size of Koshien Baseball Stadium, has a botanical garden where you can enjoy plants from all the seasons, tennis, a horse-riding facility, a swimming pool, a play area with a large playground, the Open-Air Museum of Old Japanese Farm Houses, an outdoor stage, and more. The park was selected as one of Japan's Best 100 City Parks. The park is rich with nature with pine trees, green roads, and a nearby forest with fountains and streams. Many events are also held at the various facilities across the park. People visit at all times of the year when they're in the North Osaka area.
  • Senri-Chuo Park

    This urban park is located approximately 15 minutes' walk from Senri-Chuo Station. It was constructed at the same time as Senri New Town, and spreads out to the east of the station, around the multi-unit apartments. The park's main attraction is the long roller slide in the Adventure Forest. The feeling of sliding down the mountain, through the trees, is exhilarating. The park also has athletic play areas for children to have fun while exercising and there are three hundred cherry trees planted in the park, making it a popular place to go flower-viewing in the spring. From the park's observation deck, Mt. Rokko and the mountains of Mino are visible, making it an outstanding view spot.
  • Shiroato Park

    This park is located near the JR Kyoto Line's Takatsuki Station, around the ruins of Takatsuki Castle, which was abandoned in 1874. There are walks along what would have been the castle moat, rest zones and various sport zones including baseball grounds. There are play equipment and lawns for children to play on, and various other facilities, such as a traffic garden and a museum of history and folklore. Traffic lights and signs are installed in the Traffic Garden, to help children learn traffic rules and manners on go-karts. Only children aged 3-8 years may use the go-karts.
  • Akutagawa Sakurazutsumi Park

    This riverbed park is located along the Akutagawa River at the foot of the Monzen Bridge. A famous cherry blossom viewing spot, cherry blossoms bloom profusely along the bank in the spring. At Koinobori Festa 1000 held in May, over 1,000 carp streamers are raised and fill the sky over the Akutagawa River. In addition, you can enjoy playing at the river in the summer, and a large number of mainly local children gather there. The slide and spring riders are popular with small children. This spot is loved by local residents throughout the year.
  • Teshima Park

    This municipal park is located five minutes' walk from the Hankyu Takarazuka Line's Sone Station. The park has playground equipment, a baseball stadium and tennis courts, a rose garden and an illuminated fountain. It is a popular spot for locals to come to take the weight off their feet. The baseball stadium was named Rose Stadium, after the rose which symbolizes Toyonaka City. The stadium is used not only for high school and amateur games, but is also a venue for second league professional games. There is also a performing arts center nearby, and the park is the center of Toyonaka City's cultural sports.
  • Senri Minami Park

    This park is easily accessible, being just a five-minute walk north following the train tracks outside the Hankyu Minami-Senri Station, and is very popular for parents and children wanting to enjoy the park together. The main feature of this park is Ushigakubi fishing pond, with its circular plaza where children can run around freely. The path which runs around the plaza and pond has become popular as a jogging course. There are also many Manyoshu poems and poems of famous writers such as Basho Matsuo and Akiko Yosano placed around the park on stone monuments. These were all placed here thanks to donations from the public, and rubbings may be taken of the poems. The park is also a famous place for lovers to gather.
  • Settsukyo Park

    This scenic park covers 42.58 hectares, extending upstream of the Akutagawa River, in the northern part of Takatsuki City. It is famous for its cherry blossoms and Autumn leaves, and the entire park is a place of great natural beauty. To the south of the park is the Sakura Garden, where around 230 cherry trees have been planted. The Sakura Festival is held here every spring, and it is always bustling with people who have come for the flower-viewing. There is also a hiking course along the Akutagawa River, which is used for orienteering exercises, and hikers can walk here while enjoying the different facets of nature during each of the four seasons.
  • Senri-kita Park

    This park was built as a buffer space in Senri New Town alongside Banpaku Memorial Park, in 1970. The park extends for four kilometers, snakelike, from 2 Chome Shinsenri Kitamachi to 2 Chome Higashi-Izumigaoka. Hotaria parvula, a near-threatened species of firefly in Osaka, lives here. The fireflies are said to only be able to survive in places where the natural balance of the eco-system is maintained. The entrance to the promenade where the fireflies can be seen is near the Yamadanishi Police Box (Yamadanishi 2 Chome). The best time to see them is from the middle of May to early June.
  • Satsukiyama Park

    This park on Mt. Satsuki approx. a 10-minute walk from Hanyu Ikeda Station. Located in the center of the city, it is famous as the Hokusetsu region's leading spot for cherry trees, azaleas and autumn leaves, and was chosen as one of Osaka's top 100 green landscapes. There are hiking courses and observatories, and also Hirado azaleas, Mochi azaleas and Kobanomitsuba azaleas, making it a place where many people come to see flowers in all seasons. A cherry blossom festival is held here in early April. In addition, you can see from Mt. Satsuki's Shubodai wonderful night views and even the lit up Big Harp, a bridge that spans the Inagawa River.

    公園に着くまではずっと上り坂で疲れますが、公園からの景色はとてもきれいです。大阪平野の北の端から南側を望む格好になるので、箕面市や吹田市、豊中市、遠くには大阪市のビル群やあべのハルカスもかすかに見えます。日没は残念ながら見えませんが、周りも静かできれいな住宅街なので景色を見て落ち着くにはいいところです。

    とにかく広い公園。施設があちこちに点在していますが、それを除くとほとんどが原っぱなので、なにより開放感があります。休日にのんびりくつろぐにはよさそうですね。ただ日蔭の得られる場所が限られるので、夏の炎天下に歩き回るのはかなりつらいかも。
