    Tokyo Hachioji-shi Yarimizu
"This is the common name for ""Hama-kaido Road,"" once known as ""Kanagawa Okan."" The two kilometers stretching from the foot of the ""monument to silk"" is now located approximately two kilometers from the base of Goten Bridge along the Oguri River. After the opening of the port of Yokohama in 1859, it was one of the routes along which raw silk for export was transported until the middle of Meiji period (1868-1912), and on which a railway was developed thereafter. It is thought that raw silk produced around Hachioji was first deposited at Hachioji-juku, and then transported to Yokohama along this road. The unpaved part of the road that still retains its old features has also been selected as one of the top 100 Historical Roads by the Agency for Cultural Affairs."

Tokyo Areas

around-area-map

The setting of countless iconic movie scenes and the inspiration for songs, poetry, and literature worldwide, Tokyo barely requires an introduction. It’s hard for the kaleidoscopic neon lights, wacky pop culture, and some of the world’s tallest structures not to instill excitement in any first-time visitor to Tokyo, whether you’re in the very center of the hustle and bustle in Shinjuku or Shibuya or looking in from the quieter suburbs.
