  • Samegasaki Observation Platform

    Tokyo Ogasawaramura Hahajima Shizuka Sawa
    A scenic lookout situated at the mouth of the bay of Oki Port. The observatory can be found at the top of a series of steps in the interior of Wakihama Nagisa Park. The lookout faces southwest and offers a sweeping view encompassing the bay and sights such as Mukojima Island and Hirajima Island. Also a great spot for whale watching, it is known as an excellent place where one can observe migrating humpback whales from the land from January to April. The observatory also has a rest area and a sign with information on the whales which can be seen in the area. Visitors are also encouraged to come at dusk and watch the sun slowly setting into the sea from here.
