    Located along National Route 7, this is among the largest roadside stations in the Tohoku area. In addition to the local product hall and restaurant, there is a day-trip hot spring and the Ashihotto foot bath, and many other travel facilities. And not only is there an observation deck on the sixth floor, there's an observation hot spring on the fourth, Chokai no Yu, with a view from the baths of the Sea of Japan year round. There's a banquet hall for large groups, making it a big draw for tour groups.

    This temple is located in Kisakata-machi, Nikaho City. It is a Soto sect Buddhist temple whose principle object of worship is Shakamunibutsu. It is famous as a temple which has been visited by literati for a very long time, and inside the temple grounds, there is a statue of Basho and haiku writings in his travel’s jounal, Oku no Hosomichi. It is also famous for what are known as the seven wonders of Kanmonji Temple, such as the well of ghostly appearances and the camellia that cry at night.

    This museum is dedicated to the memory of Lieutenant Nobu Shirase, who came from what is now Nikaho City, and who led the first Japanese expedition to reach the Antarctic. Information on Lieutenant Nobu Shirase’s personal background and valuable memorabilia on the Antarctic expedition team are on display in the museum. There is also a life-sized play ship modeled on the ship “Kainanmaru” used for exploring the Antarctic situated outside in the museum’s Antarctic Park.

    This is a science museum located along the Ushuhamakaido road in Hirasawa Takarada, Nikaho city. The museum hosts a memorial hall dedicated to Kenzo Saito, who discovered industrial uses for the magnetic iron-oxide derived substance ferrite and founded TDK, as well as to his supporter Teiichi Yamazaki. They also have displays in magnetism, and a research workshop with experiment area supervised by Denjiro Yonemura.

    科学的なあれこれを息子に体験させようと訪問。 有料なのでシビアに見てやろうと思っていたが、コンテンツは豊富で飽きずに居られる。動作が微妙な物もあるが、終盤にはでんじろうプロダクションがプロデュースしたコンテンツ群で、楽しい印象でフィニッシュできる。展示室最後のボルダリングは科学ではないと思うが、息子は運動もたっぷりできて満足していたし、定期入場券購入も検討する。

    A local museum located in Hamanota, Kisakata Town, Nikaho City. Kisakata used to be known as a pretty scenic place with islands both large and small. The museum has displays on the history and culture of Kisakata and the lagoons in the area which were lost in the Great Kisakata Earthquake of 1804. The museum exhibition includes the “Lagoon Period of Kisakata” with models of what the area looked like at the time, and paintings on folded screens, etc. Another display to look for is “Writers and Artists Who Visited Oku-no-Hosomichi and Kisakata” which introduces the literary people such as Matsuo Basho who visited Kisakata. Exhibitions are also held here such as work by Shuzo Ikeda, a woodblock print artist from Kisakata Town.

    "This tourist railway was born as a civic entity in order to take over the Japan National Railways Yashima Line in 1985. Extending from Yashima Station to Ugo-Honjo Station in Yurihonjo City, Akita Prefecture, the railway line is 23 kilometers long. Trains can be chartered or and there's also a ""cycle train"" service which you can bring your bicycle onto. (Be aware that ""cycle trains"" operate in fixed areas and at fixed times.) The railway operates an abundant variety of trains; customers rave in particular about the children's space on the Nakayoshi Koyoshi train."

    Shirataki Falls is located on the middle stretch of the Naso River, which flows down from Mt. Chokai. The falls, 11 meters wide and 26 meters tall, create a massive splash as they flow down. In 1932, it was designated a National Place of Scenic Beauty. A panoramic view of the falls is available from the pavilions of the nearby Kinpo Shrine.

    Hokodate View Terrace is at the fifth station on Mt. Chokai. The highest point on the Chokai Blue Line, it also serves as the trailhead for the Mt. Chokai Kisakata-guchi climbing trail. You can see the Sea of Japan from the observation platform, and on the opposite side facing the mountains, you can look down over the V-shaped Naso Valley. The seasonal attractions such as green spring leaves and colored fall leaves make it a big tourist draw. Near the parking area there is a facility, named Inakura-sansho, where you can stop for meals or rest, as well as public toilets. The visitor center has exhibits introducing Mt. Chokai.

    This 30 meter wide mini waterfall is a famous sightseeing area is in Kisakata-machi, Nikaho city. The moss covered rock and thundering waterfall create a truly mystical atmosphere. The spring at Mototaki Fukuryusui Underflow pumps about 50,000 tons of water a day, and since it flows year round, it offers a constant source of water for residents and farmers.

    Melt water and spring water from Mt. Chokai cascades down this 100-meter-long and 57.4-meter-high three-step waterfall. It has been selected as one of Japan’s Top 100 Waterfalls and Important Natural Monument and scenic spot of Akita Prefecture. It is particularly famous for the flow of a width of 3 to 30 meters at the waterfall basin of 3,000 square meters. The magnificent amount of white water flowing boasts an incredible sound. The fall is surrounded by deciduous broad‐leaved trees, making the area famous for viewing the fall leaves. The colorful reds and yellows with the flowing waterfall makes it an unmissable mystical sight.
