    Iwate Pref. Moriokashi Moriokaekinishidori 1-7-1
This glass structure, located to the west of JR Morioka Station, aims to be a base for the use of all the citizens of Iwate Prefecture. It houses public facilities such as the prefectural library and has a multi-purpose hall with a maximum capacity of 507 people. It also houses the Iwate Prefectural University campus where courses, including those for lifelong learning, are held mostly for local residents. Another of its features is that it is a complete universal design. There is tactile paving and audio guidance on each floor.

    盛岡駅から、けっこう近くにある公共文化施設です。図書館などが入っていて、市の中では中心的な役割を果たしているのだと思います。

A skyscraper and commercial complex located a three-minute walk from the west entrance of Morioka Station on the Tohoku Main Line. In addition to the numerous offices which rent space here, there are conference rooms with free Wi-Fi. The observation deck on the top floor offers a sweeping view of Morioka and can be used as an exhibition hall for paintings and handicrafts. The building's mall area is occupied by a drug store; clinics; and restaurants serving Japanese, Western food, a cafe buffet, and even establishments which can be used for parties. The atrium in the building contains a recreation of the front facade for the former Japan National Railways Morioka Factory.

A complex consisting of a town-run community facility and Shizukuishi Station on the JR Tazawako Line. The building's design was inspired by the children's stories of Kenji Miyazawa and has been selected for inclusion of a list of the Tohoku region's 100 best stations. A destination, crammed with the unique charms of Shizukuishi, on the first floor, you can find a tourism and cultural exchange center; and Horosuke Hoho, an izakaya (Japanese pub) offering a wide variety of choices, including lunch options, yakiniku (Japanese barbecue), and of course popular izakaya options. On the second floor, there's Kobirikko, a restaurant serving Japanese-style fast food; and Ekinaka Sanchoku, a shop which sells rice, vegetables, Koiwai dairy products, Shizukaishi beef, and souvenirs.

This is an area of gourmet food and restaurants located on the Odensekan floors of FESAN Department Store in the Morioka Station Building. There are plenty of shops selling Iwate specialties and confections, and restaurants offering seafood rice bowls made with seafood delicacies from off the Sanriku coast, etc. “Odense” in the Iwate dialect means “please come”.

Iwate Areas

around-area-map

A northern Tohoku prefecture promising peace and quiet, Iwate is sparsely populated, replacing people with snow-capped mountains, history-rich sites, and fields of crops that are to thank for the region’s delicious local cuisine. Meander along the three-city Golden Route, where you’ll visit the grand Buddhist temples of Hiraizumi and the Tono folk villages before tasting the three famed noodle dishes of Morioka.
