    A major commercial facility standing on the banks of the Naka River. In addition to shops and restaurants, the facility is also adjoined by a movie theater and a performing arts theater. The Ramen Stadium area, filled with branch restaurants from famous ramen purveyors throughout Japan, is a popular place to check out. In the evening, visitors can enjoy a magnificent water fountain show that makes use of projection mapping in the Sun Plaza on floor B1. Free baby stroller rentals available.

    The Hakata Bus Terminal, from which scheduled and high-speed buses leave and return from trips around Fukuoka City, has one underground and nine above ground floors with stores for clothing and accessories, sundries, daily goods and foodstuffs. Just a one-minute walk from JR Hakata Station’s Hakata Exit, it is convenient for both tourists and shoppers. From the first floor run local scheduled buses and from the third run high-speed buses going to Honshu and other areas around Kyushu.

  • TENJIN CORE

    TENJIN CORE is a fashion building built by the Nishitetsu Group on the underground second floor to the eighth floor, and is 43 years old as of April 2019. There are many shops, including clothing and accessory shops, general merchandise shops and gourmet food shops in the building. It is located about three minutes on foot from the Fukuoka City Subway Line’s Tenjin Station.

    Surrounded by gorgeous nature and history, Riverwalk Kitakyushu is a facility with various functions including culture, art, information and commerce. Visitors can enjoy the open spaces of Ogura Castle, Murasaki River and Katsuyama Park while doing their shopping or going to the art museum or theater. The abundance of events makes people want to visit over and over again. The Riverwalk is approximately three minutes on foot from the JR Nishi-Kokura Station and approximately ten minutes from the JR Kokura Station.

    This is a large commercial complex located in Sunatsu, with an array of shops and facilities lined up together inside including consumer electronics, daily sundries, restaurants, and a movie theater. The symbol of the complex is a large Ferris wheel of height 60 meters and diameter of 50 meters, from which one can look out over Kokura. Of the 36 gondolas just two are transparent and visitors often form a line to use them. Events such as concerts and illuminations are held throughout the year, bringing in a lot of visitors.

    This traditional department store opened in 1936 as the first railroad terminal department store in Kyushu. Its roots extend all the way back to 1754, when it operated as a kimono shop. A passageway connects the main building and the new annex, and inside you can find everything from men’s and ladies’ fashion to household goods, food items, cosmetics, interior goods, jewelry, restaurants, and more. For customers with children in tow, there are also brands aimed at kids. With the largest selection of goods in Kyushu, there is something here for everyone. The nearest station is Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin) Station.

    Located inside JR Hakata City, Hakata DEITOS, conveniently situated near the Chikushi Exit of Hakata Station, is a sightseeing spot in and of itself. The two stories above ground and one below are filled with a variety of restaurants and souvenir shops. Hakata Ramen Street on the second floor is home to numerous popular Hakata ramen, udon, and soba restaurants. Seasonal events are else held in the facility. Located inside JR Hakata Station.

As VIVRE has no on-site parking, one must use nearby parking facilities when traveling by car.

An exhibition on the local Yamakasa festival can be viewed year-round in the Kawabata Zenzai Hiroba plaza. There are also many temples and shrines nearby and the area is frequented by tourists.
