    Pier Bandai is the largest fresh food market along the Sea of Japan with a seafood center and farmer’s market. Thanks to its cafeterias, kaiten-zushi (conveyor belt sushi), and ramen shops, this is becoming a place to fully appreciate Niigata’s foods. There is also a BBQ area where all the necessary materials are supplied, so guests can borrow a BBQ set (for a fee) and enjoy cooking the food they have just purchased on site. The facility has an excellent location set in the heart of Niigata City.

    最初裏の通りを歩いていたのですが、随分と古い建物が有るなという感じでした。ただ表に回ると外壁は古いですが、内部を現代的に改造したお店が複数ありました。活気が戻ってほしいですね。

    A tourism facility located in Akiyamago, an area known for its remoteness and called a paradise since ancient times. Surrounded by old-fashioned, bucolic scenery, facilities include a hotel, outdoor bath, restaurant, and shop. The restaurant boasts a panoramic view of Akiyamago; the Moegi Teishoku combo meal, made with an abundance of local ingredients, is particularly recommended. The hearty meal comes with char grilled with salt shioyaki style, kenchin jiru vegetable soup, a local stew called hira, and a side. The use of local Uonuma-grown Koshihikari rice further enhances the innate flavors of the ingredients used.

    津南町、秋山郷の手前にあります立派な施設です。場所柄空いていることが多くゆっくりお湯に浸かることができました。特に露天風呂は内湯から離れていますが山々を見ながら入れますので大自然の中リラックスできますよ。山深いところにありますがドライブやツーリングルートでの立ち寄りがおすすめです。

There are six floors in total, with a wide range of restaurants and shops, including food stores, bookstores, electrical appliance stores, sundry goods stores, clothing stores, convenience stores, etc. CoCoLo Niigata is ideal both for buying souvenir gifts to take back with you on the train, and for making everyday purchases.

    This shopping district, also known as Ninjo Yokocho, is located approximately ten minutes by car from the JR Niigata Station's Bandai Exit. It was established in 1951, and is one of Niigata City's oldest shopping districts. It remains unchanged from that time, and is well-loved by locals, who call it Niigata's Kitchen. The shops here range from old-fashioned reasonably priced shops to modern fashionable shops, dealing in everything from fresh foods to dried foods, accessories and miscellaneous goods. There is also the Hamayaki store, which cooks seasonal fish with plenty of fat at the shop front, the aroma drifting out to the street to whet the appetite of passers-by. There are also ramen shops as well as many other restaurants.

    新潟区役所の地下から行きました。ここにはバスの待合室も有り、壁には時刻表も有りました。いろいろなお店も入っています。雪国には、必要な地下街です。

    工場見学に訪れました。非常に職人の挨拶がよく、気持ちが良いし、それぞれの作業場所には案内看板が立っているので、予備知識がなくても楽しめる。 前日までに依頼すれば、無料のガイド付きツアーも頼めるそうです。 ショップには、たくさんの包丁があって、圧倒されます。 高価なものもありますが、安いものもあります。コストパフォーマンスが良い印象を受けました。

    駅前の交差点側の方には、観光案内所やコンビニ、塾などがありますが、地元の人たちの出入りが頻繁にあるのは建物奥側にある市立図書館のようです。まだ新しく、設備もきれいで、規模も充実していました。図書館の１階出入口から館内に入ってすぐの右側には併設の清潔なカフェもあり、図書館に関係のない人も利用できるようになっているのには興味が湧きました。土曜日の昼間に行ったのですが、残念ながらカフェはお休みでした。
