The sunset view of the Tokachi Plain and Hidaka Mountain Range was very beautiful, where we could see the view of Obihiro City from above. The scenery was very nice and great for taking photos...

    Hokkaido Katougunkamishihorochou Nukabiragensenkyou
An observatory built on the shore of Lake Nukabira. The observatory offers a sweeping view of the Taushubetsu River Bridge and the natural beauty of the lake. The Taushubetsu River Bridge is a concrete arch bridge which was built for the former Japan National Railways Shihoro Line. The line was closed with the building of the nearby dam, which formed Lake Nukabira, enveloping the bridge. Accordingly, today, the bridge is only visible in winter when water levels are low, leading it to be called a phantom bridge. There are parking spaces along the nearby National Route and a walking path leads to the observatory, making it easy to stop by and enjoy the view while on a drive.

Hokkaido Kato-gun Kamishihorocho Nukabira Gensen Go
"This area is dotted with concrete arch bridges, reminiscent of ancient Roman aqueducts. The Taushubetsu river bridge is nicknamed the ""Phantom Bridge"" because when the Lake Nukabira water level rises around June, the bridge sinks below the surface, and reappears around January when the water level drops again."

Hokkaido Areas

around-area-map

Not just a prefecture but an island of its own, Hokkaido is the most northerly prefecture and island of the Japanese archipelago. Arriving in Hokkaido, which is rural and bursting with breathtaking nature, means entering a world where vast national parks, towering mountains, and natural hot springs can be found at every turn. Come December, these natural splendors freeze over and morph into a winter wonderland.
