  • Nozawa Onsen Snow Resort

    One of Japan’s foremost ski and snowboarding resorts offering elevation differences reaching 1085 meters. The resort is popular for its wide array of courses enjoyable from beginners to experts. The resort also has a wide and gentle slope for children as well as a kids’ park for young ones to play in the snow making it a great destination for families as well. Another attractive point is the resort’s moving walkway which extends from the hot spring district directly to the slopes.
  • Naeba Ski Resort
    Nigata Pref. Minamiuonumagunyuzawamachi Mikuni 202
    This resort has close to 20 runs served by 13 gondolas and lifts including Dragondola the world’s longest gondola at 5481 meters. Mt. Naeba is a large ski complex that also includes the Kagura Tashiro Ski Resorts that are connected by gondola. The Naeba Prince Hotel is directly adjacent to the resort grounds. It sees many visitors for the ski resort in the winter and the FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL that is held in the summer.
  • Hakuba 47 Winter Sports Park

    This ski resort in the Hakuba area is known for a regular amount of snowfall of superb quality. Consisting of eight routes, half pipes, and a kids slope. It connects with Hakuba Goryu at the summit, and you can come and go between them with the same lift pass. The Route 3 course in front of the gondola station at the summit is an action-packed run where moguls have been left the entire way. Hakuba 47’s hallmark Route 1 run also comes highly recommended. It’s the first slope groomed in the morning, and you can enjoy great scenery while skiing down towards the village of Hakuba.
  • Karuizawa Prince Hotel Ski Resort

    In addition to five beginner, two intermediate, and three advanced slopes, the Karuizawa Prince Hotel Ski Resort also has a Free Ride Park and a pole practice run open from about mid-January. It’s great for beginners too with ski and ski wear rentals, and with its snow park, you can have a good time even if you don’t plan on hitting the slopes. There is also a ski school for kids from three to nine years old with boots sizes ranging from 15 to 23 centimeters.
  • Fujiten Snow Resort

    Fujiten Snow Resort is a ski resort in a great location where you can enjoy skiing and snowboarding while taking in the views of Mt. Fuji. There are a variety of slopes aimed at children beginners and slopes for more advanced skiers. All equipment can be rented at the resort. Outside of winter you can enjoy mountain biking grass skiing sledding and more. In October 2009 the snow resort was selected as ‘a sacred place for lovers’ as it’s one of the best places to propose marriage to a loved one. Events on love life and marriage are held here from time to time.
  • Madarao Mountain Resort

    The popular Madarao Mountain Resort has a wide range of slopes and zones including beginner runs, a park area, tree runs, and areas geared toward kids and families. It offers other ways to enjoy the winter mountain too, like snow rafting, snowshoe tours, backcountry tours, and more. The Madarao Sports Academy is a highly regarded ski school that serves everyone from kids to advanced level skiers.
  • Akakura Onsen Ski Area
    Nigata Pref. Myoukoushi Akakura Hot spring
    This ski resort offers a complete set of courses that includes beginner runs and a kids area. It has wide slopes and 17 runs spreading out over Mt. Myoko. Guests can ride a lift and moving belt from Akakura Onsen at the base of the mountain to quickly access the slopes. This resort is also popular for its additional night-time business hours and location that is only about 10 minutes away from Myoko Kogen I.C. on the Joshin-etsu Expressway.
  • Hakuba Happo-one Winter Resort
    Hakkan Village Hakuba-mura, Kitaazumi-gun, Nagano Prefecture
    A ski and snowboard resort located in Hakuba Village in the Kitaazumi District Hakuba Happo-one boasts one of the largest standalone ski/snowboard areas in the country. Particular points of interest include the beautiful scenery of the surrounding Japanese Northern Alps and the highly diverse courses stretching across over 1000 meters in elevation. The panoramic view from the 1830 meter high summit is truly a sight to behold. The resort also served as the venue for alpine skiing during the Nagano Olympics.
  • Joetsu Kokusai Ski Area
    Nigata Pref. Minamiuonumashi Kabanosawa 112-1
    This ski area is located on the slopes just outside the JR Joetsu Line’s Joetsu International Skiing Ground Station. The various ski slopes, spanning an area into which 214 Tokyo Domes would fit, range from advanced level courses with a highest gradient of 38 degrees, to slopes which beginners can happily enjoy. There are also two types of half pipes for both skiers and snowboarders to use. Because the ski slope is on the northern side of the mountain, it has abundant snowfall, and skiers can also enjoy the powder snow. Additionally, there are sled-only courses and snow games slopes exclusively for children, so the whole family can have fun.
  • Hakuba Cortina Ski Resort
    Nagano Pref. Kitadumigunotarimura Chikuniotsu 12860-1
    Located in Chikuniotsu Otari Village this ski resort features 100% natural soft snow and is very popular among overseas tourists. There are 16 courses in total to choose from featuring everything from beginner courses to an advanced course with an altitude of 1400 meters that offer an amazing view. There is also a play area for children as well as a daycare center and ski lessons to provide for all your needs. As there is a hotel right in front of the slopes you can relax in the hot springs after your ski adventure.
