干潮の時を狙っていきました。駐車場はわかりにくいですが、混んでいなかったのでスムースに停められました。混んでいるときは車の出入りすら苦労するかも。ハートロックのビーチはきれいでした。パラグライダーで見学する人もいました。思っていたより小さい潮だまりです。

- This virgin forest located about a 30-minute drive from Amami City is the most untouched subtropical broad-leaved tree forests left on Amami Oshima Island. The forest, which extends deep into the mountains of Naze, evokes images of ancient times. The forest's massive 10 meter-tall Cyathea lepifera ferns are living fossils whose fronds are believed to have been fodder for dinosaurs eons ago. The sunlight filtered through their large umbrella-like fronds creates a mystical spectacle to behold. The forest is also a habitat for rare wildlife such as Lidth's jay, a national Natural Monument, as well as the Okinawan tree lizard.

ツアーガイドさんの案内で2時間半くらいかけて、自然を感じてきました。お勧めです。テレビや広告などに使われるスポットも説明を受けてきました。

- A facility located a 40-minute drive from the Tsunagi interchange on the west circuit of the Minamikyushu Expressway where visitors can watch cranes up close. Only open from November 1 to the fourth Sunday in March the following year, the facility is a top wintertime tourism destination in Izumi City. From the two story, reinforced concrete building, the site of the over 10 thousand cranes which gather in the area is truly spectacular. The facility opens early only on January 1, enabling visitors at this time to see the first sunrise of the new year emerging over the cranes. There is a shop and café on the first floor, and visitors can enjoy a warm cup of coffee while watching the cranes.

大きなマングローブ林です。 林は大きいのですが遊歩道はほんの一部のみのなっており、 ５分ほどで一周できるコースとなっています。 カヤックもできるようですが、 冬場だからか看板に書かれたカヤックの連絡先は隠された状態になっていました。

- """Mangrove"" is a general term for the wild plants that inhabit marshlands and tidelands in tropical and subtropical regions. 94% of Amami City's Sumiyo-cho on southern Amami Oshima Island is covered by mountainous forests. The former town also boasts a magnificent forest of Kandelia obovata and Bruguiera gymnorhiza mangroves (special protection area of Amamigunto National Park) that extends across the estuary of Sumiyo Bay, which faces the Pacific Ocean. The forest, which extends over more than 71 hectares of the estuary shared by the Yakugachi River and the Sumiyo River. Two companies offer canoeing tours of the mangrove forest. Tour participants can enjoy the extraordinary experience of feeling like adventurers as they pilot canoes through waterways surrounded by mangroves."

Kagoshima Areas
Over 100 active volcanoes across Kagoshima make it one of the Japan's most exciting prefectures. The prefectural capital, Kagoshima city, looks out to one of the prefecture’s most spectacular volcanoes, Sakurajima, an island of its own that can be visited and seen close up or admired from afar, with the promise of breathtaking sunsets complete with frequent puffs of smoke and ash. Down the Satsuma Peninsula, the most southerly part of mainland Japan, waterfalls, sand onsen, and fascinating history await, while Kagoshima's abundance of satsuma imo (sweet potato) provide a wholesome snack as well as one of Japan's favourite drinks - shochu.
