There is also an arena gymnasium and athletic field on-site, and you can enjoy playing soccer, volleyball, softball and other sports. Because it has a cafeteria and training rooms, it can also be used as a camping facility for all kinds of club activities.

    This park is built on the grounds of Otamane Shrine, known for the legend of Princess Hannya. You can see the Seto Inland Sea and the Oshima Ohashi Bridge from the observatory at the foot of Mt. Iino. This is a place of relaxation for local residents, where they can get a close look at the Obatake Seto, which creates magnificent whirlpool tides, and the ships that come and go in it. The cherry blossoms in the spring, cool evenings and rock fishing in the summer are popular, drawing crowds throughout the year. In the park, there are bronze statues of predecessors who contributed to the construction of Oshima Ohashi Bridge.

    "This restaurant is located inside ""Green Stay Nagaura,"" an accommodation facility based on the Hawaiian island of Kauai, the sister island of Suo Oshima. It has a wide variety of menu items, such as Japanese and Western food and local dishes, as well as Hawaiian dishes including loco moco and fried poke bowls. The ""mikan orange small nabe hot pot set meal"" comes with fresh sashimi and a mikan nabe hot pot, a Suo Oshima specialty. Inside the restaurant that has a tropical resort feel, there are private Japanese-style rooms. In addition, it can be relaxed while feeling the wind of ""the Hawaii of the Seto Inland Sea"" on the outdoor barbecue deck."

    レストランからハワイのように見える景色もよくロコモコと季節限定御膳を頂きました。ボリュームもしっかりあり、刺身も新鮮で美味しかったです。

    "This seafood restaurant is located inside the seaside resort hotel Sunshine Sazanseto. You can enjoy fresh seafood dishes from the Seto Inland Sea to your heart's content. The dishes that the chief chef wholeheartedly wields his skills to make are the gems unique to Oshima Island blessed with an abundance of seafood. Their ""largehead hairtail kagami-mori,"" a specialty dish that looks as if a large chrysanthemum flower is in full bloom, can be enjoyed with the deliciousness of sashimi and salt-grilled fish. Mikan-nabe, a local nabe hot pot, is the standard way to finish off a meal of mikan zosui (rice porridge) with a fluffy meringue. It can be used not only by staying guests but also just for meals."

Including a traditional ""tide bath"" that is slightly salty, there are three bathtubs and sauna facilities. For the ""tide bath,"" sea water is drawn up and boiled, and it was for a bath therapy that used to be called ""shiotoji."" Because sea water is effective against nerve pain and other ailments, it has been believed that the body is purified by the water. The hot water that makes use of the high buoyancy of the seawater is highly regarded since you can experience floating and being shaken by the waves and its gentle touch. You can also enjoy a beautiful view of the Seto Inland Sea from the large windows."

    A Mediterranean-style beachfront park located about a 15-minute drive from Yanai Station. Previously known as Kuroshima Beach the Sazan-Seto Ihonosho Marine Park was built in 1993. The white sand beach stretches across some 330-meters along the eastern side of the Murotsu Peninsula and from the beach you can look out at the Obatakeseto Strait, the Oshima-Ohashi Bridge, and Mt. Kotoishiyama. The park is lined with palm trees and features a gazebo, clock tower, observation deck, and open lawn area and is popular with locals and tourists not just during beach season but year-round.

    A restaurant right in the center of Yanai. They offer a rich menu replete with both Japanese and Western cuisine. Their popular Hannya Gozen Meal is an example of local cuisine mixing Yanai's specialty Seto shellfish with fresh local vegetables, all mixed with rice and seasoned with soy sauce. It comes as a set with grated Japanese yam served over soba noodles. Also well known is their Shirakabe Seafood Ricebowl which pairs a sashimi rice bowl topped with loads of fresh seafood caught in nearby Yanai Sea and a Ushio-jiru soup with sea bream head. The restaurant can adapt to which scenario you require from delivered boxed lunches and catering to any sort of banquet or party.

    This mansion is where Meiji author Kunikida Doppo spent several years in his youth. He lived here from 1892 to 1894 during his impressionable 20s period. Inside the residence you'll find a bust of the author along with various items that belonged to Doppo including a Chinese lute and a diary in his own handwriting, which can be viewed only from outside.. He wrote many works centered around the theme of Yanai including 'Shonen no Hiai (Young Man's Grief)' and 'Kikyorai (Returning Home)'. It's said that the short story 'Shonen no Hiai' is based on the period that Doppo resided here.

    The willow tree (yanagi) and well (Ido) that form the basis for the name of the Yanai region. Legend states that some 1400 years ago Princess Hannya was summoned by Emperor Yomei but as she was travelling to the capital disaster struck. She made her way to this well and askedsome water from a villager. The villager gave her pure water from the well and by drinking it she was able to escape death. In thanks she left a willow branch by the well and overnight it sprung up into a great willow tree. Because of this the area would come to be called Yagii and this name would be changed to Yanai during the Edo period. The present willow is the fifth generation of that tree. Another legend states that if you drink from the well you'll become beautiful.

    This soy sauce brewery first opened in 1830. They continue to carefully make their Sai-Shikomi (refermented) soy sauce using the same traditional techniques. Their Kanro Soy Sauce, a well-known product of Yanai, draws its name from when it was served to Lord Yoshikawa, lord of what was then the Iwakuni Domain, and the full-bodied flavor and fragrance caused him to cheer 'Kanro! (Nectar)' without thinking. It's made by adding more malted rice to already completed soy sauce and allowing it to ferment again making it take twice the materials and time as regular soy sauce. Their Kanro soy sauce is made in a vast cedar tub using the subterranean waters of the Kotoishi mountain range and is normally served alongside sashimi and nigiri-sushi.

    伝統ある白壁の町並みにある甘露醤油の醤油蔵元です。店の奥には醤油樽を見ることが出来ます。醤油の匂いがとても素敵でした。勿論販売もしていますよ。

Strawberry picking is available from December to early May (reservation required) allowing you to enjoy fresh picked strawberries. And as the strawberries are primarily grown in raised beds you can enjoy picking strawberries without needing to bend over.

    岩国のレンコンが撮れる場所を見に行きました。南岩国駅の方です。9月にはほぼ見渡す限り、田んぼが一面レンコンの緑の大きな葉で埋められていました。

    山口県岩国市の高台にある神社。椎尾八幡宮は「しいのおはちまんぐう」と読みます。 少し境内に向う道が分かり辛かったですが、錦帯橋の手前の大明小路沿いから狭い路地に入り、いきなり凄い急な中道が目の前に立ちはだかります。 軽自動車のレンタカーを借りていたのでパワーが心配でしたが、何とか登りきり、坂の上に神社がありホッとしました。 岩国藩主吉川広正により建立されたとされ、なかなか立派な社殿でした。祭神は...

    吉川家墓所のすぐ近くにあるお寺。入口の山門脇には不動明王の石像もあり、なかなか風情がある。本堂の前には白砂を敷き詰めた石庭もある。拝観料は取られないので、立ち入って拝見させていただいた。
