This ramen shop is located in Onomichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture. It is famous for its Onomichi ramen, notable for its flat-cut aged fresh noodles and a broth subtly flavored with small fry. Equipped with both counter and table seating, the restaurant is visited by many ramen lovers. Lines often form around lunchtime.

We tried the special ramen with thick slices of pork and it was delicious. The restaurant from outside does not look very appealing but do not be fooled by the appearance!

Hiroshima Pref. Kureshi Shouwachou

A park established on a former Imperial Japanese naval base in Kure City, Hiroshima Prefecture. The park is the only place in the country where you can view Maritime Self Defense Force submarines up close. Visitors are free to walk about the park’s grounds. Red brick former naval arms and arsenal factory buildings surround the park, and a crane once used to lower torpedoes and other equipment onto ships still stands on one of the docks. At the JMSDF Kure Regional District Headquarters (F Berth) immediately adjacent, the general public is permitted to view the inside of a destroyer every Sunday (advance application required).

Hiroshima Kure-shi Ondocho Iwashihama 1-2-3

This large tourism complex stands next to the Ondo-no-Seto strait, which, according to legend, was opened up by the mighty samurai leader Taira no Kiyomori. Situated adjacent to the crimson Ondo-ohashi Bridge, the complex houses a tourist information center, exhibition room, hall, and restaurant. In Katsuratei, the complex’ restaurant on the top floor, you can enjoy fresh, seasonal seafood while watching boats come and go through the strait directly below. A souvenir shop on the first floor carries popular local Ondo products and specialty products sold no place else. Many people stop by here while going on scenic drives through the area.

Okonomiyaki NAGATA-YA is a well-known okonomiyaki restaurant featured on an overseas airline website and located close to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park in Naka Ward, Hiroshima City, Hiroshima Prefecture. The restaurant is inspired by the times of the 1930s in the Showa period with all sorts of retro posters and things dotted about the place. An interactive, activity-oriented facility which aims to provided traffic safety education. Here kids can ride go-carts and have fun while learning traffic rules. The facility has individual and two-person go-carts. The 500 meter go-cart circuit recreates a typical public road, including traffic signals, signs, and crosswalks, giving children the chance to experience what it's like to actually drive a car. In addition to go-carts, the facility has a playground with swings and a sandbox, ensuring even small children can have fun here. There are also vending machines selling drinks, ice cream, and other sweets. The facility has parking but note that it is limited.

A daifuku (sweet bean pasted-stuffed rice cake) shop located in Innoshima Ohashi Park on Innoshima Island in Onomichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture. The shop’s Hassaku daifuku, an Onomichi specialty, are particularly renowned, and fans from around the country come here to enjoy them. Hassaku daifuku have a fresh flavor and are made Hassaku oranges stocked from contract farms on Innoshima Island and Ikuchi-jima Island wrapped in shiroan white bean jam covered with mochi glutinous rice. The shop also sells a variety of other fruit daifuku such as seasonal strawberry and grape daifuku. The shop has an eat-in space with free coffee and a view of Innoshima-ohashi Bridge.

This is a great flower-viewing garden for enjoying flora in all four seasons—poppies in spring, lavender in summer, and cosmos in fall. It features a café and herb garden as well, so you can partake of lavender ice cream and fresh herbal tea.

ラベンダーが見納めの時期に行きました。ドライフラワー用に1人100本までラベンダーを持ち帰ることが出来ました。しかし炎天下で、まだ綺麗な状態の花を探す作業は結構大変でした。最盛期に来たいです。

Hiroshima Onomichi-shi Nishitsuchidocho 14-1

This Buddhist temple is located a 10-minute walk from Onomichi Station on the JR San'yo Main Line. Records state the ancient temple was founded in the Gen’o era (1319-1321). Said to have been founded by an apprentice of the wandering priest Niso, the temple is famous for its unusual grave containing three heads. There once were three thieves who gave their spoils to the poor, but eventually they were executed for their crimes in 1828. Their heads were buried next to the main temple, and local residents came to honor the thieves. It is said that praying to the grave can cure one of illnesses from the neck up, and even today an unending stream of people visit the grave seeking its miraculous power.

A long-standing anagomeshi (grilled conger eel over rice) restaurant established in 1901 located a two minute walk from Miyajimaguchi Station. The restaurant’s famed anagomeshi features fresh-grilled conger eel (anago) piled tightly packed on top of a bed of rice cooked with a broth made from conger eel bones. This long-selling favorite was originally created to offer as a bento box lunch sold in front of the nearby train station when the restaurant was founded. The restaurant is also famous for the lines of customers waiting to eat inside that constantly form out its door. Customers eating in can enjoy flavors and dishes differing from those offered for bento box lunches, such as piping hot, fresh-made anagomeshi and shirayaki conger eel grilled without seasoning. Bento box lunches can be reserved. No reservations are accepted for the restaurants sit-down space.

Rokai Boat is a sightseeing boat powered by hand which takes tourists to see the floating Itsukushima Shrine in Miyajima Town, Hatsukaichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture. The boat leaves every 30 minutes or so only during the day at high tide. Boat trips last for approximately 20 minutes. In the time of the shogun, Taira no Kiyomori, it is said that it was proper for a visit to the shrine be made by boat. It is still possible to relive the experience of passing beneath the great torii gate as it would have been at the time. Photos can be taken of the torii gate and Itsukushima Shrine from the boat. Tourists can enjoy the scenery of Miyajima, a world heritage site, while listening to the gently lapping waves and guided commentary. Boats do not depart at low tide.

This history museum in Naka Ward, Hiroshima City was opened in 2012. It is located inside one of the homes built by Floyd Schmoe for the citizens of Hiroshima after the atomic bombing. The building was restored and relocated to its current location. There, visitors can learn about the support that Hiroshima received from people around the world after the atomic bombing. Visitors at the museum, which is visited by many tourists, can receive a guided tour by the museum’s staff (reservation required).

"A Shinto shrine located in Nishi Ward, Hiroshima City which is dedicated to Empress Jingu among others. After the daimyo lord Mori Motonari visited the shrine prior to the Battle of Miyajima to pray for victory, the shrine came to be known for granting victory and success to worshippers. The shrine is also affectionately known as the ""carp shrine,"" a play on a name for the area, ""Koi,"" which can also mean ""carp.""
