  • Oshidori Observation Hut
    Leisure / Hobbies
    Tottori Hino-gun Hino Cho Neu
"An observation area in Hino Town dedicated to viewing Mandarin ducks. It lets you see the migratory birds up close between November and March. Highly colorful, the Mandarin duck is Tottori's prefectural bird. They are listed in the Ministry of Environment's Red Data Book. At times there are over 1,000 ducks, and visitors can view them from the blinds of the observation hut. In season volunteer guides are on hand to provide information on their ecology and characteristics. A Japanese expression for ""lovebirds"" comes from this species' tendency to mate for life."
