The site of a castle located close to the Tatsuno City Museum of History and Culture. The castle is believed to have been built in 1499 at the top of Mt. Keiro by Akamatsu Murahide. After four successive generations of lords from the Akamatsu clan, it is said the castle's tower was destroyed when it capitulated during Toyotomi Hideyoshi's conquest of the area on the order of Oda Nobunaga. Thereafter, repairs were made using the stone foundation and then a new castle was built. In 1979, the inner citadel and two-tier corner tower were rebuilt. Today, a trail leads from behind the current Tatsuno Castle to the site of the old castle at the top of the mountain.
