This temple was founded in the Kamakura period (1185-1333) by Muso Soseki. Its honorary name Kokeizan comes from how the surrounding mountain scenery resembles China’s Kokei Ravine at Lushan. Eihoji’s garden is superbly beautiful and has been designated a Historic Site and Natural Monument. There are many sights you shouldn’t miss, like the Kaisando and Kannondo, both National Treasures. The principal object of worship, an image of Kanzeon Bosatsu, is a Prefectural Cultural Property. Most of the collection consists of woodblock print ukiyo-e such as “The Sixty-nine Stations of the Kiso Kaido” of his mature period, and the exhibits change nearly every month. An interactive, activity-oriented science museum, one of only a few in the country, located a 10-minute drive from the Mizunami Interchange on the Chuo Expressway. The museum has very few exhibits, and instead visitors can deepen their interest and understanding of science while having fun participating in the various experiments and creation events the museum holds. Enjoy a variety of experiments and experiences like the museum's hour long science shows combining images projected on a big screen with experiments performed on a stage, and special workshops where you can enjoy an experiment show conducted right in front of your eyes. The museum also holds public courses through which you can explore science more deeply.

Roadside Station Cha no Sato Higashi-Shirakawa is in a beautiful natural setting in the village of Higashi Shirakawa, Kamo Country, the area where the famous Shirakawa tea is grown. There is a plant on the premises where the richly fragrant and deeply flavorful tea, grown in the harsh local climate, is processed and sold to the public. Inside the main building, visitors can buy fresh tea leaves picked in the village and enjoy regional cuisine made with local vegetables, as well as the Tsuchi no Ko Yaki (snake-shaped cakes) that the village is famous for. Visitors can go to the neighboring tourist farm and pick blueberries during the summer, try ayu (sweetfish) fishing in the river, or experience nature in other ways.
