- "A Soto Buddhist temple built in 1651 after the chief retainer of Kaga Domain asked the domain's lord to do so. Widely known as a temple which grants wishes, the temple is popularly visited by worshippers from around the country. The way to pray for your wish is unique-wearing a cord tied to a sign with your wish on it around your shoulder, you must circle a path called the ""Road of Happiness"" encircling statues depicting arhats and the 12 signs of the Chinese zodiac three times counter-clockwise. Some of the temple's many other highlights include the ""Kofuku Jizo,"" a statue of Kshitigarbha which grants people's prayers for children and healthy child growth; a white statue of the deity Fudo which grands beautiful skin; and a Daruma statue which grants improved luck."

願掛けを目的として伺いました。簡単な説明の後は自由に見学したり回ったりしました。石の干支の置物がたくさんあり、自分の干支のところに3週目に願掛けしてタスキをかけます。なんか聞いてくれそうな感じやな-。今回の金沢旅行で一番楽しかったとこです。

- A history museum located in No-machi, Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture situated on the former site of the Yoshiyonero tea house; the museum building recreates what the tea house once looked like in its heyday. The Yoshiyonero famously served as the setting of the Taisho period novel “Chijo” and an exhibit presenting materials related to its author, Seijiro Shimada, can be found on the first floor. The second floor is a tatami room with lovely rouge walls; the room is decorated with various articles appropriate to the tea house neighborhood in which the museum is situated, including gold leafed and lacquered ornaments, sensu folding fans, a shamisen, and taiko drum. Volunteer sightseeing guides who will provide a walking tour of the nearby area are also regularly stationed at the museum.

金沢市の茶屋街のひとつであるにし茶屋街にあり、駅などからは少し距離があります。かつてのお茶屋の様子が再現された場所で、装飾品などを含めて見学することができて、入場料は不要なのでこちらに来たら見学するといい場所だと思います。

- The Myoryu-ji Temple is a Nichiren Buddhist temple in Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture. The Temple was founded by Maeda Toshitsune, the third lord of the Kaga Domain. Its complex defensive architecture, including many features designed to confuse attackers, led to it being nicknamed the “Ninja Temple.” The Temple interior is full of ingenious features such as offertory boxes and steps that hide pitfalls, hidden rooms, etc. What appears from the outside to be a two-storey building actually has four stories, with a total of 23 rooms. Tours can be booked in advance by telephone; it may be possible to book a place for the same day if there are any places vacant on that day’s tour.

- This is a long-established store continuing since 1870, located at the “Kutani-yaki” pottery, a craft representative of Ishikawa Prefecture. All the work is completed by hand from molding the clay to the first kiln, second firing and decorating with glaze, and the techniques of old Kokutani and revived Kutani continued to be protected even today. In addition to being able to see the manufacturing process in the workshop, visitors are able to experience painting a design to make their very own original piece. There is an exhibition room with a variety of kiln artwork, and pieces from traditional style to those of everyday use are for sale. The nearest station is Nomachi Station.

- "A Shinto shrine dedicated to the goddesses Amaterasu Omikami and Toyouke-hime Omikami standing along National Route 157, a 10 minute drive from JR Kanazawa Station. Counted as one of Japan's Seven Shinmei Shrines or one of Three Shimei Shrines. The shrine provides worshippers with protection from evil and misfortune and, since ancient times, has been nicknamed ""Oshinmei-san."" The shrine's Himachi Festival and Aburimochi Shinji, regular spring and autumn festivals have been held for over 300 years. A giant Japanese zelkova tree on the shrine's grounds is some 1,000 years old and is the biggest such tree in the prefecture."

金沢市の繁華街の南側の犀川を超えた幹線道路沿いにあります。車通りが多い通り沿いですが、一歩境内に入ると静かで、人も自分以外はいない状態でした。悪事災難厄除けに御利益があるあぶり餅神事が有名だそうですが、そのイベントと関係ない訪問だとやはり樹齢1000年という大ケヤキに存在感を感じますね。

- This area once flourished as a licensed chaya (traditional place of feasts and entertainment by geisha) district of the Kaga Clan and is still an area with Japanese restaurants and geisha houses lining the streets. It is located on the west side of “Saigawa River” in Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture. The chaya style town houses with impressive lattices line the streets, and the atmosphere of traditional pleasure quarters refusing first-time customers without introduction remains. It is the town where the Taisho period novelist Seijiro Shimada, who wrote the best-selling novel “On the Ground” at the age of 20, spent his childhood. In the “Nishi-Chaya Museum,” visitors can see material on Seijiro Shimada and a reproduction of a Japanese style room of chaya.

- "This Koyasan Shingon Sect Buddhist temple is located about three kilometers from Kanazawa station. The temple, which venerates an early Heian period statue of the Amitabha Kannon, and is number 14 on the Kanazawa Kannon pilgrimage. This temple is famous for its connection to Imohori Togoro, part of the legend which gave Kanazawa its name. The temple legend states that the honest Togoro received the blessings of the gods and Buddha, and every time he dug potatoes, he discovered gold dust. The legend says that the spring where he washed the potatoes became known as ""Kanazawa,"" gold marsh. There is a sitting statue of the Fudo Myo-oh, made between 810-824, in the Goma-do hall, visible in a glass enclosure."

- An ancient Buddhist temple which records state was founded in 1593. Originally built in Echizen (now Fukui Prefecture), the temple was later moved to Kanazawa, then Toyama, and Kodatsunodai, before finally being relocated to its current grounds in 1615. The temple’s huge cherry tree, popularly known as the Ozakura, is a 400-year-old Shogetsu cherry. According to legend, the samurai Maeda Toshitsune, third lord of Kaga Domain, and his friend, the temple’s high priest, received the seedling from Komatsu Castle and planted it here on the grounds. A local landmark, the tree is six meters in circumference at the base and 14 meters tall; jutting out of the temple’s wall, its branches extending over the sidewalk outside. In most years, the tree blooms in mid-April, attracting large numbers of visitors.

- This temple was founded in 1635 as a Sankoji Buddhist temple, but today nothing original from this time remains. The temple’s main gate was rebuilt as a Deva gate in 1991. Originally providing gifts for geisha to give to favored customers, this popular shop has gained a reputation through word-of-mouth and from celebrities specially ordering its products. Using a variety of ingredients, including dainagon adzuki beans, red kidney beans, chickpeas, pinto beans, and white and black soybeans, the shop creates moist, delicately sweet ama-natto made without preservatives or colorings. The shop’s ama-natto is popular with tourists as a reasonably-priced Kanazawa souvenir. The rear of the shop is used as a takeout café in the summer (opens irregularly) where customers can enjoy shaved ice topped with specially prepared mamemitsu beans in sweet syrup.

- “Hiromi” are what the wide, open spaces dotting the streets of Kanazawa are called. It is said they were made to provide protection from fires long ago when the town was first being built up. The Rokuto no Hiromi is said to be the largest hiromi in the city and it sprawls in front of the Myoryuji Temple, famously nicknamed the “Ninja Temple. Located in an area where few tourists visit, this place allows one to imagine what the ancient townscape once looked like.
