Kanmikissa Umezono is the main shop of the veteran sweet shop Umezono, founded in Asakusa in 1854. Located on the seventh floor of Nihombashi Takashimaya, they offer a variety of sweets and light snacks. Their awazenzai has long been popular. The delicacy is made of glutinous millet and well-cooked red bean paste, and its sweet and fragrant yet simple flavor harmonizes with the astringency of its glutinous mochi cake. They also have dishes like zoni rice cake soup, the traditional dessert anmitsu, and seasonally available items like shaved ice.

The setting of countless iconic movie scenes and the inspiration for songs, poetry, and literature worldwide, Tokyo barely requires an introduction. It’s hard for the kaleidoscopic neon lights, wacky pop culture, and some of the world’s tallest structures not to instill excitement in any first-time visitor to Tokyo, whether you’re in the very center of the hustle and bustle in Shinjuku or Shibuya or looking in from the quieter suburbs.
