    Chiba Pref. Futtsushi Futtsu 2280
Cape Futtsu is a narrow land formation resembling a crane jutting its beak into Tokyo Bay. At the tip of the cape is the Meiji Memorial Observation Tower from which one can see the expansive ocean, downtown Tokyo and even Mt. Fuji. Many people visit Cape Futtsu for swimming in the ocean or in the jumbo pool, and for clamming as well.
  • Ubara Risokyo
    Travel / Tourism
    Chiba Pref. Katsurashi Ubara
"This quintessential example of a ria coast was formed via erosion caused by the crashing waves of the Pacific Ocean. ""Ubara Risokyo"" refers to all of Cape Myojin in Ubara, Katsuura City. Coastal plants also grow thickly here and the area is a naturally rich, picturesque destination. A favorite of writers and artists since ancient times, Akiko Yosano, in particular, wrote many poems about the area. The name ""Risokyo,"" meaning ""ideal land,"" is derived from the plan to turn the area into a holiday villa community in the Tahsho period (1912-1926)."

Nojimasaki Lighthouse, nicknamed the ""Swan Lighthouse"" and the second oldest extant lighthouse in Japan, is located on the cape. The Boso Peninsula forms the main body of Chiba prefecture, and this is where you’ll find its endless warm water beaches and jagged mountains. Further inland, Narita - most famous as the home of Narita Airport - is a secret haven of tradition and history in the form of centuries-old Shinshoji Temple and quaint wooden Edo buildings. Chiba prefecture is also home to both Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea.
