Saitama Chichibu-shi Shimoyoshida 4091

This farm is located along Fruit Road in Shimoyoshida, Chichibu City. Five varieties of strawberry, including “Kaorino” and “Mouikko,” are cultivated here with the help of wine compost. From January until around June, you can enjoy strawberry picking as well as interacting with the rabbits and goats that are raised on the farm. In addition, a nearby pond is well known as a spot for fireflies. For the duration of the firefly season, that begins in around mid-June, you can use the farm’s parking lot.

An outdoor facility located in Kamiyoshida, Chichibu City. Facilities include camping sites, cottages, a cooking building, gym with clay floor in which visitors can enjoy various sports such as futsal, gate ball (Japanese croquet) and ground golf, free climbing wall, and clubhouse with a bathhouse area. Visitors can try making pizza in a real brick pizza oven (advance reservation required) and the facility also offers plans for camp weddings on the grounds.

A Buddhist temple located in Shimoyoshida, Chichibu City. The temple's principal object of worship is a standing wooden statue of Sacred Avalokitesvara carved in the distant Fujiwara period. This is the 33rd temple of the Chichibu 34 Kannon pilgrimage; together with the Saigoku 33 Kannon pilgrimage in the Kinki region and the Bando 33 Kannon pilgrimage in the Kanto region, these three pilgrimages make up the Japan 100 Kannon pilgrimage.

A mountain located on the border between the prefectures of Tokyo, Saitama, and Yamanashi. 2,017 meters tall, it is the tallest mountain in Tokyo. Climbing routes include a route on the Okutama side and a route starting at Mitsumine-jinja Shrine in Chichibu. From the summit, you can enjoy a commanding view of Mt. Fuji and other surrounding mountains. Whichever route you take, it is difficult to reach the top of the mountain in a single day, and most climbers aiming for the summit choose to spend a night at Sanjo no Yu, Kumotorisansou, or another lodging facility on the mountain.
Marugami Falls

This 76-meter three-tiered waterfall is at the foot of Mt. Ryogami. There is a parking lot and a path to a lookout with a view of the falls on Prefectural Route 367 on the way to the Ryogami-Sanroku Campground. It's the only cascade in Saitama Prefecture that's counted among the 100 Elections of the Waterfall in Japan. Its beautiful color is due to its relatively small volume of quietly flowing water. The area hasn't been heavily affected by tourism development, so the natural surroundings are relatively untouched. It's a great spot for hiking, particularly in the fall when the foliage changes color.

A trout fishing ground located in Otaki, Chichibu City. Here visitors can fish using lures and live bait as well as go fly fishing on the Irikawa River, one of the sources of the Arakawa River. Visitors can also try catching fish with their bare hands or play in the river water pool area. You can barbecue the fish you catch right along the river or grill it with salt shioyaki style using an irori sunken hearth.

"A Buddhist temple located in Hannya, Ogano Town, Chichibu County. The temple's Kannondo hall, built in 1707, enshrines the temple's principal object of worship, a statue of Sacred Avalokitesvara (Kannon) which records state was created by Gyoki. A worship space in front of the main temple building commands a view of the temple's mountaintop Okunoin inner sanctuary, which enshrines a statue known as the ""Boat Kannon."" A beautiful field of poppies on a highland 500 meters above sea level in Chichibu. Open from mid-May to mid-June each year, red as well as white and pink poppies bloom in profusion amidst the gentle winds of the plateau. The park hall provides tourism information for Minano Town and Higashi Chichibu Village and also has a shop selling JA Chichibu products and local souvenirs.

This artificial lake located on the upper reached of the Arakawa River was created with the construction of the Futase Dam. Due to the area’s deep connection with Setsuko, Princess Chichibu, the lake was christened Lake Chichibu in May 1962. There is a walking path along the lakeshore, which is also planted with Japanese maples and mountain cherry trees.

This is a shaved ice specialty shop located in Nagatoro, Nagatoro Town. The wholesale shop of “Asami Reizo”, established in 1890 and a long-established warehouse, offers shaved ice made from naturally frozen ice. Customers can enjoy various flavors such as the store’s secret formula honey flavor, fruit syrup and Chichibu wine syrup.

テレビで紹介されたお店で、来るたびに行列ができています。当日も結構並んでいる方がいました。こちらに来るたび、並んでいる風景が名物になりつつあります。やはり女性の方の姿が多いですね。暑い夏にはピッタリのかき氷です。長瀞駅からのアクセスも良く、訪れやすいお店だと思います。

The site of a native copper mine on Mt. Wado in Kuroya, Chichibu City designated a historic Cultural Property by Saitama Prefecture. It is recorded that native copper from the mine was presented to the Imperial Court in 708 and used to cast Wado kaichin, Japan’s first circulating coinage. A five meter tall statue shaped like a Wado kaichin has been erected on the site of the ruins; the grounds are also the location of Hijiri-jinja Shrine, believed to be deeply connected to the history of the presentation of the native copper to the Imperial Court, and the shrine has become popular in recent years as a mystical “power spot” said to increase one’s luck with money.

Saitama Chichibu-shi Motomachi Nakamachi Kamimachi

This is the road connecting Mushashi-no-kuni and Kai-no-kuni, and it is counted as one of the ancient “Kai Kusuji” roads. It passes through Chichibu, and beyond the Karisaka Pass which is one of the three hardest passes in Japan and heads to Koshu. It is roughly the same as the current National Route 140. You can still find some traces of it in Chichibu such as the “Tochimoto-no-seki Ruins,” ruin of checkpoints for travelers that was designated as a nationally historic site.

"A hamburg steak and spaghetti specialty restaurant located in Omiya, Chichibu City. The restaurant serves hamburg steaks made with 100% ground beef; Joshu beef steaks; waraji katsu breaded pork cutlets, a local Chichibu favorite, served teppanyaki style; and more. On weekdays during lunchtime, the restaurant serves a daily lunch special, pasta lunch, and hamburg steak lunch. The restaurant's salads, made with fresh vegetables from the establishment's own farm, are also popular, and in summer the restaurant holds a ""Fresh Vegetable Fair"" during which time it offers a variety of vegetable-focused dishes."

A 497-meter high mountain located in Nagatoro, Nagatoro Town, Chichibu County, Saitama Prefecture. The Hodosan Ropeway can be used to travel from Sanroku Station at the foot of the mountain to the mountain's top in about five minutes. The rear shrine of Hodosan Shrine is located at the top of the mountain, as well as facilities such as Chichibu Hodosan Zoo, the Ume Hyakkaen plum garden, and the Robai-en wintersweet garden. Visitors can also take in the many seasonal flowers which grow here, including rhododendrons, Amur adonis, azaleas, and Kanzakura cherry.

Out of all the mountains of Chichibu, Mt. Buko is particularly precious not only because of the reverence paid to it as a holy mountain but also because of its value from the perspective of the natural sciences. The Mt. Bukoh Museum was established to present all there is to know about the mountain, and the museum’s interesting and easy to understand exhibits are divided into themes such as the formation of Chichibu’s mountains, the geography and geology of Mt. Buko, and the plants and animals found here. The museum’s video room has videos on various topics relating to the mountain as well as informational panels and photographs.

武甲山資料館という名前の通り、武甲山に関する資料が展示されている建物で、展示室は１部屋だけの小さな資料館でした。観光施設というより、石灰の採掘によって変わりゆく武甲山の歴史を後世に残すための施設のような感じがしました。入館者が少ないので入館料が高くなってしまうのはしょうがないかも知れませんが、観光目的の人にはチョッと高いと思いました。

This temple is located in Oobatake-machi, Chichibu City. This is the 19th temple of the Chichibu 34 Kannon Pilgrimage and has the “senju Kannon seated statue,” said to have been made in the Muromachi period, as its principal object of worship. Within the premises, there is the Sanzuba Hall that enshrines the Datsueba demon which snatches away the clothes of the dead at the River of Three Crossings, and is believed to cure sickness among children.
