  • Senba Toshogu Shrine

    "This shrine is in Kawagoe City, Saitama Prefecture. It’s one of the three major Toshogu Shrines (which enshrine Tokugawa Ieyasu) in Japan, and others are Nikko and Kunosan Toshogu Shrines. This one was built in 1617. The main shrine hall enshrines a statue of Tokugawa Ieyasu, and around the hall are rows of stone garden lanterns donated by the historical lords of Kawagoe. This is also said to be the birthplace of the children's song ""Antagata Dokosa."""
  • Togo Park Chichibu Ontake Shrine

    This park, hosting a statue of Togo Heihachiro, is famous for fall leaves. There are about 1,000 trees planted here, and the fall maples turn the surroundings scarlet, creating a symbol of the Chichibu autumn. Every year, they Togo Park autumn leaf festival is held in November.
  • Zentoin Temple

    Zentoin, a favorite stop on the Ogose Shichifukujin (Seven Lucky Gods) Tour, is dedicated to the god Hotei, and it is said to be effective for praying for financial prosperity and extra good luck. The temple cemetery contains the grave of Shibusawa Heikuro, a patriot during the end of the Edoperiod who committed suicide near Zentoin. Since this temple is located in the Oku Musashi area's plum village of Ogose, visitors in early spring are treated to the sweet fragrance of plum blossoms and the song of the Japanese bush warbler.

    This temple sits quietly surrounded by mountains and nature at an altitude of 800 meters. It is an ancient temple established in the late Kamakura period, known as the place of one of the 13 Chichibu Buddhas. There are no private houses in the vicinity and no mobile phone service, so at the temple guests can get away from the times and the everyday and feel immersed in nature. From spring to autumn guests can experience zen meditation, and copy written sutras. Accommodation is also available (reservations are required in advance).

    Built in 1916 (Taisho 5) by the employees of Daiichi Bank to raise funds and celebrate the joyous life of Eiichi, the bank's founder and first president, Seinodo was built in the style of an English farmhouse. It was once located in Seiwa-en, a recreational sports facility of Daiichi Bank in Setagaya-ku, Tokyo, and was also used as a meeting place for the bank.

    A doll museum showing off the outstanding collection of the Togyoku Doll manufacturer. The collection on display includes Gosho Ningyo palace dolls, Hina dolls, traditional Hagoita battledore rackets, Gogatsu Ningyo warrior dolls, Isho Ningyo fashion dolls, puppets, and karakuri Japanese automata, and includes masterpieces by modern master craftsmen and even foreign dolls. You can take a tour of the doll workshops, try a doll making class, and also purchase popular Japanese-style accessories.
  • Toki no Kane Bell-Tower

    This bell tower was ordered to be constructed by Sakai Tadakatsu, then Lord of the Kawagoe Domain, sometime between 1627 and 1634 at its current location in what was then Taga Town (now Saiwai Town). It is said to have been the first bell tower. The current bell tower was reconstructed the year after the Great Fire of Kawagoe in 1893 and has a three-story structure standing nearly 16 meters tall. It has been designated as a Cultural Property of Kawagoe City and chosen as one of 100 Soundscapes of Japan: Preserving Our Heritage.
  • Minuma Tsusenbori Canal

    A lock-style canal that first opened in 1731, more than 180 years earlier than the Panama Canal. The canal's lock system allows boats to pass by adjusting the water level difference between the river and the canal. The opening of these locks heralded a thriving industrial exchange with the city of Edo (now Tokyo). An example demonstration of the opening and closing of the locks is held annually in late August.
  • Miyatsuka Mounded Tomb

    An ancient burial mound located on a natural embankment on the northern shore of Arakawa. It's one of the few burial mounds featuring a square flat base and round top found in Japan. The lower part of the tomb measures nearly 17-meters east by 24-meters west and stands nearly 2-meters high while the upper section is nearly 10-meters in diameter and 2.15-meters high topped with roofing stones. The tomb was constructed in the late 7th century. In 1956 it was designated as a National Historic Site.

    A museum located in Gyoda City which flourished from the late Edo period to the mid Showa period as a producer of Japanese Tabi socks. The building was formerly the tabi factory for a tabi shop called Makino Honten but after the building was no longer used it was converted into the museum in 2005 leaving most of the factory the way it was. The museum has exhibits as well as demonstrations by former tabi craftsmen.
  • Shogunyama Burial Mound Exhibit Hall

    An exhibit hall within the Saitama Prefectural Museum of the Sakitama Ancient Burial Mounds. The Shogunyama Burial Mound was excavated by locals in 1894. From the side-entrance style burial chamber many burial items including horse saddles and helmets, meandering ironware, flag holders, copper bowls, and ring swords were unearthed. You can view remains and relics as well as the interior of the burial chamber. The actual burial items are on display in the National Treasure Exhibition Room of the main building.
  • Miyoshino Shrine

    A shrine dedicated to Tenjin and said to be the birthplace of the Toryanse children's song. It was the local shrine for nearby Kawagoe Castle and was rebuilt in 1624 on the orders of Sakai Tadakatsu who later became the ruler of the castle. The main buildings of the shrine are currently undergoing repairs. While construction is underway a temporary place of worship for visitors has been set up in the front shrine building.

    Located just south of Kita-in Temple, this temple is officially called Tendai Sect Bekkaku-Honzan Nakain special head temple. It's a peaceful temple with a graceful appearance as is known as a temple closely related to the author Shimazaki Touson. Located on the grounds is the Shimazaki Touson tea house, Fusen-tei, which has been designated as a Cultural Property of Kawagoe City. It is currently used and maintained by those who love tea ceremony.
  • Old Yamazaki Family Villa

    This house was built for the retirement of Yamazaki Kashichi, the fifth head of long-standing Kawagoe confectioner Kameya. In the year 2000 the main building, tea house, and sitting room were designated as Tangible Cultural Properties of the City and in 2006 parts of the building were donated to the city. The garden is a Nationally Registered Memorial (scenic location) and in 2019 the main building was designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan (Architecture). It is highly regarded as contributing to the development of landscaping culture.

With a focus on Edo period art, it has a collection of works on display by artists, both living and deceased, who have a connection to the local area.
