- (Provided by service)Hozen-ji Temple is a Jodo (Pure Land) Buddhist temple in Osaka City that is famous for the moss-covered statue of the deity Fudo that worshippers pour water over. The Temple is said to have originally been located in Kitayama Village, Uji District, before being moved to its present site in 1637. Within the Temple, there is a statue of Nishimuki Fudo-son (Aryacanalatha) and a hall dedicated to Konpira (Kumbhira, the guardian deity of seafarers); the Temple is often filled with the scent of the incense sticks offered by worshippers. It is believed that pouring water over the moss-covered statue of Nishimuki Fudo-son can bring a wide range of benefits for the worshippers, including success in business or in love, and as a result the Temple is visited by many local shopkeepers, and by many tourists.

This stone-paved alley, famous in part through Sakunosuke Oda’s novel Meoto Zenzai, is crowded with some 60 tiny restaurants and bars. In total, the alley is around 80 meters long. Throughout the day, the alley is visited by an unending stream of people. In the afternoon, you can visit the Hozen-ji Temple, nicknamed the “Mizukake Fudo,” or enjoy a bowl of sweet red bean zenzai soup; at night, partake in a dinner or a cup of sake.

Today, Shinsaibashi-suji is lined by around 180 businesses, including fashion boutiques, lifestyle stores, specialty stores and gourmet restaurants. The area to the north of Nagabori street has always had many textile wholesalers located there, and is known as the ""Senba Shinsaibashi-suji shopping street""; for a fashion-related business in Osaka, opening a store there is a mark of success and status."

- (Provided by service)A famous Buddhist temple located in Higashiyama Ward in Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture. The temple is said to have been started when the priest Enchin enshrined a thousand-armed statue of Kannon above the Otowa Waterfall in 778. The main temple nave enshrines a standing figure of an eleven-faced Kannon and is built in the elegant Shinden-zukuri style. The Kiyomizu Stage jutting out over the Cliffside offers a sweeping view of the streets of Kyoto and blooming cherry trees, verdant plant life, or autumn foliage depending on the season, making it a popular photo spot. The three channeled Otowa Waterfall is said to provide benefits such as long life and people line up to drink its waters. Bustling with students on a school excursion as well as tourists both domestic and international, the Kiyomizu-dera Temple is one of Kyoto’s most popular tourist sites.

When the Kiyomizu-dera Temple was founded in 808, this path was built for visitors. The path is lined with souvenir shops, ceramic stores, and Japanese restaurants, giving it a truly Kyoto air. The hill is also called Sanneizaka. There are many theories as to its derivation, but based on the characters which comprise it (meaning “to give birth” and “preference,” it is widely believed that it gained this name from the parishioners climbing it to reach the Koyasu-no-to and pray for a safe childbirth.

There are various theories about the origins of the Hokanji Temple, but it is generally believed to have been founded in the Asuka period (593–710) as the guardian temple of the Yasaka clan. The 46 meter tall five tier pagoda is a reconstruction built in 1440 by Ashikaga Yoshinori and is a nationally designated Important Cultural Property. Visitors can go inside the pagoda to view a dais on which are placed figures of Mahavairocana, Akshobhya, Ratnasambhava, Amitabha, and amoghasiddhi—the Five Perfected Ones; as well as the interior structure of the pagoda and the great central pillar supporting it.

- (Provided by service)This temple began when third generation shogun of the Muromachi shogunate Ashikaga Yoshimitsu inherited the Saionji family's mountain villa and called the villa “Kitayamadono.” After his death it was changed into a Zen temple named “Rokuonji.” The reliquary hall is a three-story building shining beautifully in gold and looks pretty reflected in the Kyokoike (mirror pond). This brilliant architecture was a symbol of Kitayama culture but burned down in a 1950 fire, then was rebuilt in 1955. In 1994 it was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

There are a group of about 70 Jizo statues on a cliff upstream on the south bank of the river and since it is said that the number of statues differ each time they are counted, they are called “Ghost Jizo”. - (Provided by service)The Shinkyo Bridge is a beautiful bridge that hangs at the entrance into the mountains of Nikko, and is a structure which belongs to Futarasan Shrine. At the end of the Nara period, on the occasion of Shodo Shonin founding a temple, he sought divine assistance from gods and Buddhas as he was blocked from crossing the Daiya River. Thereupon, Jinja-ou (the God of the River) had appeared and released two snakes. Legend has it that mountain sedge sprouted from the backs of those two snakes and they turned into a bridge which is the Shinkyo Bridge. The bridge was built in its current vermillion-lacquered form in 1636. Thereafter, it was washed away by a flood, but it was rebuilt in 1904. It is an Important Cultural Property of Japan and it was also registered as a World Heritage site in 1999. The Shinkyo bridge is regarded as one of the three most eccentric bridges in Japan.
