  • ASAMA 2000 Park
    Takamine Plateau in Komoro City, Nagano Prefecture
    With superb scenery and snow quality, ASAMA 2000 Park is for everyone from beginners to advanced level skiers. Groups and families are particularly fond of their STAGE 3 course. Running from the summit of Mt. Takamine at an elevation of 2,091 meters, beginners can ski it while enjoying the view. STAGE 1 comes recommended for beginners and small children as it’s away from other slopes. At 400 meters, it’s the most gently sloped course for worry-free practice.
  • Chateraise Ski Resort Yatsugatake

    Popular with families, Chateraise Ski Resort Yatsugatake has a kids park and offers loads of fun on its compact slopes. Lots of clear weather, artificial snow, and its 1,620-meter elevation means amazing conditions on the slopes. They offer night skiing every Saturday from early January to mid-March. Night skiing is also available from December 29 to January 3, January 7, and February 11.
  • Koumi Re-ex Ski Valley

    Koumi Re-ex Ski Valley has the Yatsugatake area’s longest slope at 2.5 kilometers. It shares a lift ticket with Chateraise Ski Resort Yatsugatake and features a variety of slopes and attractions with high-quality artificial snow at an elevation of 1,780 meters. The kids park is just beside the parking lot and resort center. You’ll be relieved to know the ski patrol’s office is adjacent too.
  • Ontake Ski Area

    This resort in Otaki Village, Kiso County, Nagano Prefecture is popular with skiers and snowboarders alike for its full-on trails, including its long-course. The trail layout provides great skiing for beginner, intermediate, and advanced level skiers and offers a view of the Central Japan Alps. There’s a kid trail and a kids park with a snow playing area that the children will love, and plenty of other facilities, such as a free break lounge and an observation bath house.
  • Kijimadaira Ski Resort
    Nagano Pref. Shimotakaigunkijimadairamura Kamikijima 3876-2
    Located at 1,351 meters on Mt. Kosha’s north face, this resort features the finest powder snow made by seasonal winds blowing in from the Sea of Japan. Mt. Kosha’s summit has an ultra-advanced level course where the slope averages 35 degrees and the highest gradient is 45 degrees. This is steeper than a ski jump’s highest gradient, and as of 2017 the only other place in Japan with such a descent is Hokkaido’s Mount Racey Ski Area. Parents and kids have a great time together at the resort’s Wanpaku Course with an 800-meter sledding course and a slalom run.

    Facing the north side of Yashigamine, this ski resort boasts 80% clear weather and an expansive view with a 360-degree panorama that takes in Mt. Tateshina, Kirigamine, and the magnificent Yatsugatake Mountains. It’s extremely well equipped with kids’ services, making it a hit with families. The upper part with non-compact snow and mogul runs is for advanced level skiers.
  • Shirakabako Royal Hill Ski Resort
    Nagano Pref. Chinoshi Kitayama 3419
    The Shirakabako Royal Hotel is right at the bottom of the slope at this resort. With an 80% chance of clear weather, it’s an easy pick for your ski trip. The Kamoshika Course has an average gradient of 14 degrees and is a great long-run for beginners. The resort has a well-equipped snow park, and four zones including a beginners run and a “Skill Up Zone” that you hike up to.
  • MIA Ski Resort

    This resort’s longest 3,200-meter downhill run descends from its 2,120-meter summit. The top portion of its Sky High Course, commonly known as the 1 Chome, is especially popular with its frequently changing gradients and vistas. The whole course has spectacular views of the Central Japan Alps, Mt. Ontake, and Mt. Norikura. The glass paneled restaurant along the course always ranks high among Nagano’s ski resort eateries in the “Gere-Shoku Battle” to decide the tastiest resort dishes in the prefecture.
  • Yachiho Kogen Ski Resort

    This ski area is on the Yachiho Highland, where you’ll find Japan’s most beautiful white birch forest. The Free Ride Park along the slope has a kicker and other features to match your level of expertise. There are always diggers on hand too to keep the terrain park in form. You’ll love this winter wonderland at an elevation of 1,600 meters with some of the best domestic powder and a compact, family-friendly layout. The gentle gradient of the family slope is great for playing in the snow with the kids.
  • Hakuba Sanosaka Ski Resort

    Right in the center of Hakuba, this is the closest ski resort to both the Azumino Interchange and the Nagano Interchange. It has a magnificent view of Lake Aoki from the wide and gentle Lake Down Course, and the undulating long-course of the Paradise Slope is a thrill whatever your level. They have snowboard lessons for locals and international travelers alike. Their full-on Mogul Course is a popular run with carefully placed moguls and meticulous grooming.
