A strongly saline sodium-chloride hot spring whose waters are used by the Senagajima Hotel on the north side of Senaga Island a 10 minute drive from Naha Airport. This natural hot spring is located 1,000 meters below the surface and generates an abundant 500 liters of piping hot water every minute. Its waters are said to warm the body from the inside out and have strong heat retaining properties, preventing post-bath chills. They are also said to ease sensitivity to cold, aid recovery from fatigue, and alleviate chronic women's diseases, in addition to granting prayers for children according to legend. The hotel's 120 centimeter deep outdoor bath enables bathers to stand fully immersed in hot spring waters while gazing at the sea west of Senaga Island. The round stones at the bottom of the tub have a massaging effect on the feet, and bathers can forget about the time, relaxing, and enjoy the sun as it sets amidst the Kerama Islands. The hotel's bathhouse is divided into two bathing areas-the Kinryu no Yu and the Ginryu no Yu-and which is the men's and which the women's alternates daily.

Let go of your image of a busy, ordered Japan and replace it with crystal-clear waters, white sand beaches, and relaxing folk music: You’ve arrived in Okinawa. A world away from the high intensity of Tokyo, Okinawans appear to live a laid-back beach life on this paradisiacal tropical island that lies in the middle of the East China Sea almost 1,000 kilometers south of mainland Japan’s most southern tip. Home to a spattering of islands, prepare yourself to discover underwater caves, star-shaped sand, and an island culture sometimes unrecognizable from mainland Japan.
