    This is an onsen facility in Koto City’s Aomi area that opened in 2003 as an onsen theme park. Both the exterior and interior have been designed to recreate the appearance of an old Edo town, and inside events are held each day such as shuriken-throwing competitions and yo-yo fishing (Japanese game of fishing for balloons). The large onsen, foot bath, and open-air bath that use natural hot spring water coming up from the ground below Odaiba allow you to relax and forget that you are in the heart of the city. There is also accommodation on site.

    Shima means 40,000, and according to legend the miraculous waters of this hot spring district, surrounded by natural beauty, can cure 40,000 illnesses. The development of this area into a hot spring destination is said to have begun when Sakanoue no Tamuramaro bathed here while setting out as shogun in command of a force sent to conquer the Emishi region in the north. In 1954, this health resort was one of the first in Japan to be designated a National Hot Spring Health Resorts, alongside Sukayu Onsen in Aomori and Nikko Yumoto Onsen in Tochigi. The area's 42 source springs generate an abundant 3,500 liters of piping hot water every minute. The springs are sodium, calcium chloride, and sulfate springs. In ancient times, it is believed that people came here to soothe their sore skin after bathing in the highly acidic waters at Kusatsu Onsen.

    With an area six times the size of Tokyo Dome, this is a giant leisure facility complete with heated swimming pool, onsen, golf course, and a hotel. There are spots for people of all ages to enjoy, including entertainment featuring Hawaiian shows and other events, and a beauty salon. This was the set of the movie “Hula Girls” and it is often visited by fans of the movie.

    With Mt. Fuji straight ahead and the Kofu Basin down below, great views can be had while taking a bath in this hot spring. The bath opens one hour before sunrise so opening hours vary depending on the season. The spring water in the Kocchi-no-yu bath is completely colorless and transparent while the freshly poured bath water in the Acchi-no-yu bath is a clear and bright yellowish brown color. The water is said to be good for those who are overly sensitive to the cold, those who have nerve pains, and also aids fatigue recovery. The new water sources make it more difficult to catch a chill after the bath and cause little irritation to the skin so it is good for children or the elderly. As well as hot spring baths, there are souvenir shops, snack bars, restaurants and outdoor viewing terraces on site.

    This onsen, which is consistently ranked at the top of Japan's Top 100 Onsen each year, is in the tourist onsen area called Jigokudani Valley, and is known as the Onsen Department Store for its nine different kinds of hot spring waters. In addition to the onsen of Jigokudani, there is also the Noboribetsu Bear Ranch nearby.

    This is a public bathhouse of the historical Dogo Onsen. The three-tiered wooden building has been designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan. It sprung to fame after it was mentioned in Natsume Soseki’s novel, Botchan. The dark interior with its pillars, beams and wooden lockers oozes with antiquated charm. The Honkan has two indoor baths, the Kami no Yu and the Tama no Yu, where visitors can relax and enjoy a pleasant soak. At extra charge guests can use the resting room complete with a hired yukata and some tea and cake. The nearest station is Dogo Onsen Station.

    SpaWorld Onsen is a hot springs facility located in the Naniwa Ward of Osaka City. The facility is divided into an Onsen (Hot Spring bath) area and a swimming pool area. The Onsen area is further divided by theme into an Asian-style baths section and a European-style baths section; it includes a wide range of bath types, including outdoor pools that recreate the scenery of a mountain stream, and baths modeled on ancient Roman public baths. The swimming pool area features three exciting water-slides. There is also a bedrock bath, a gym, a food court, and a hotel. *The water slides are currently undergoing maintenance work, but are scheduled to reopen on April 21, 2017.

    We travelled with kids and me and my wife really wanted to try the Onsen experience. Not all Onsens accept kids though. We found SpaWorld on the web and it was the best thing we could have found...

    It is an all-weather hot spring theme park located in Hakone, Kanagawa Prefecture. In the amusement zone where you can have fun with your bathing suits on, there is a collection of unique baths which can be enjoyed by both adults and children such as the “Gods’ Aegean Sea” and the “Authentic Coffee bath”. In the open-air bath “Mori no Yu” which brims with Japanese style, you can melt into the magnificent nature of Hakone in the open-air baths and you can relax comfortably in the bath where the walls, floor and ceiling are clad in Hinoki cypress. Coming for a day trip is of course possible, but as there are also four official hotels it is also feasible to stay.

The Healing Baden zone with the low temperature sauna and relaxation space is a soothing area that looks like a resort in a tropical paradise. The spa also includes body care services and restaurants.

    11月3連休の中日に行きました。劇混みでした。女湯の露天の炭酸泉はスペース空くのをひたすら待つ。 女性の脱衣場には、ラクーア独自の化粧品があり、質も良かったです。100円で試せるメイク品コーナーもそれなりに使う人がいました。 モロッコ風エステがありますが、高いです。 おしゃれな感じがある都会のスパですが、ゆっくり入る湯じゃないから、もう行かないかなぁ

The spacious facility offers 26 different types of baths using waters from the “Gold Spring” and “Silver Spring” hot spring sources as well as a manmade carbonated spring. There is also a stone sauna, restaurant, and rest area in this fully outfitted hot spring resort. The facility’s various areas created with connections to Toyotomi Hideyoshi are also a worth seeing, such as the “Golden Steam Bath,” modeled after Hideyoshi’s golden tea room; the “Stone Bath of the Regent,” and the “Supreme Ruler Bath.” Visitors can also walk the “Kanbee Kodo” in the front garden and learn about the history of the area during their stroll.

It's also a great place to enjoy the fresh green of spring and autumn leaves. Many visitors come for walks on the walking paths along the valley.

    A renowned hot spring district which records say was discovered by the great monk Kobo Daishi in 807. It is considered one of Japan's 100 most renowned hot spring districts alongside the famous Three Ancient Hot Springs of Izu. This area was also the site of the famous power struggle which took place in the Minamoto clan in the Kamakura period, and the town is dotted with historic sites connected to the clan such as the Shigetsuden, the oldest wooden structure in Izu. The alkaline waters of the simple springs found here are said to aid recovery from fatigue and promote health in addition to helping relieve muscle soreness, chronic digestive diseases, sensitivity to cold, and other ailments.

    Umi Jigoku boasts of being the largest among the Beppu Jigoku hot springs. The beautiful cobalt blue color is due to iron sulphate in the hot spring water. Royal water lilies and tropical water lilies are cultivated using the heat from the hot spring and the flowers will be at their best from early May until early November. At the Bon Festival event, lower grade elementary school children (up to 20 kilograms) can get on the leaves of the royal water lilies that float in the pond. There is also a footbath. The hot spring has been designated as a National Place of Scenic Beauty.

    This is the sister hotel of the Manza Kogen Hotel and is located at an altitude of around 1,800 meters.
