A park located in Hario Higashi-machi, Sasebo City and Seihi-cho, Saikai City. Maintained at the foots of the Saikai Bridge and Shinsaikai Bridge which span these two cities, facilities include observatories with sweeping views of the whirling tides of the Hario Strait, a fun obstacle course, artificial turf sledding hill, and a walking path around the Shinsaikai Bridge. Some 1,000 cherry trees come into bloom on the grounds in the spring, and during this time a spring whirlpool festival is also held here.

The park is large, and there are many play areas for kids, but the biggest attraction for us was the giant slide. For 300 yen/hr, you can rent a sled that allows you to slide down a giant artificial...

"This park in the center of the city is an approximately 20-minute drive from JR Sasebo Station. When you cross the pedestrian bridge ""Albuquerque Bridge"" that spans the Sasebo River that flows in the town area, there is a lawn plaza with a group of large camphor trees that are over 100 years old. Kirara Park, which has colorful play equipment with the motif of Sasebo specialties such as the Sasebo Burger and the Kujuku Island cruise, is very popular with children. There is also a municipal heated swimming pool that is popular as a place for local residents to relax. It is also a famous cherry blossom viewing spot, so it bustles with crowds in the spring."

The ocean is beautiful. I went there in winter season so that I could not swim. Just walking alonside seashore was enjoyable breathing in fresh air and watching islands off...

Nagasaki Areas

around-area-map

This hidden corner of the country is rural Japan at its best, where underground activity is to thank for active volcanoes and bubbling natural hot springs along the Shimabara Peninsula as well as the crystal clear waters of the Goto Islands off the west coast. Less well known than Hiroshima’s Peace Memorial Park, Nagasaki commemorates its own past at the Nagasaki Peace Park, which sits alongside the charming Meganebashi stone bridge and a mix of religious buildings with beautiful architecture, such as the Zen Buddhist Sofukuji Temple, the Confucian Shrine, and the Oura Christian Church.
