"Due to its resemblance in shape to a Chinese boat called a ""karasen"" in Japanese, Mt. Mifune is also called Mt. Karasen. This park is situated on the mountain's western side. The park was created over a three year period as part of a villa for Nabeshima Shigeyoshi, then lord of Takeo Domain. The park is incredibly beautiful in spring when some 2,000 cherry trees and 200 thousand azaleas on the grounds bloom in profusion. The sight of colorful azaleas sprawling like a patchwork quilt under azure sky is stunning, but the scenery created when the park is illuminated at night is also magical and exceptional."

Mifuneyama Rakuen is a kind of natural park on the foot of Mt. Mifune. It is popular for azalea in spring and red leaves in autumn. As I went there, it was too early for red leaves. But just for this...

This towering camphor tree is on the grounds of Takeo-jinja Shrine in Saga Prefecture. Follow the small path from the main hall through the bamboo grove and you'll find it. The seventh largest tree in Japan, it's 30 meters tall, 20 meters in diameter, and the branches spread for over 30 meters. The trunk is hollow, and the inside covers about 20 square meters. It's said to be 3,000 years old, and it's paid special respect as the shrine's sacred tree. A Shinto god known as Tenjin is enshrined in the cavity.

Visited Takeo onsen temple and came across this giant tree. Nothing too impressive honestly it just a tree. One would probably spend 5 minutes to take a photo before headed to another spot. Can omit...
