- Chodo-in is a park built around historic ruins one minute's walk from Nishi Muko Station on the Hankyu Kyoto Line in the city of Muko, Kyoto Prefecture. The information office provides visitors with an explanation of the ruins. An app called AR Nagaoka-no-Miya lets visitors see what the original building, modeled on the Tang Dynasty's Chang'an Palace, looked like. Since the building was used for governmental functions, like the present-day National Diet Building in Tokyo, it has been designated a National Historic Site.

Kyoto Areas
Its wooden tea houses, shuffling geisha, and spiritual sights have seen Kyoto hailed as the heart of traditional Japan, a world apart from ultramodern Tokyo. Despite being the Japanese capital for over a century, Kyoto escaped destruction during World War II, leaving behind a fascinating history which can be felt at every turn, from the fully gold-plated Kinkakuji Temple down to traditional customs such as geisha performances and tea ceremonies, which are still practiced to this day.
