A five minute walk from Arashiyama Station. Situated along the Katsura River, Arashiyama Park is divided into three areas and this one is the largest of them. The area is situated northwest of Togetsukyo Bridge. In addition to a children's park, there are two rest areas and two observatories. One of the area's greatest charms is its hilly scenery. Japanese red pines as well as cherry trees, maples, and Rhododendron kaempferi grow on the grounds, and during the flowering season visitors can enjoy the sight of them in full bloom. In addition, tomb for the cremated remains of Emperor Go-Saga is located inside the park on its east side. There are also a variety of famous sightseeing destinations in the surrounding area and the park bustles with large numbers of tourists from across the prefecture and Japan.

Kyoto Areas

Its wooden tea houses, shuffling geisha, and spiritual sights have seen Kyoto hailed as the heart of traditional Japan, a world apart from ultramodern Tokyo. Despite being the Japanese capital for over a century, Kyoto escaped destruction during World War II, leaving behind a fascinating history which can be felt at every turn, from the fully gold-plated Kinkakuji Temple down to traditional customs such as geisha performances and tea ceremonies, which are still practiced to this day.
