    Aichi Pref. Toyotashi Asukechou Shinmachi
This street is located in Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture. For the purpose of fire prevention, the walls of the townhouses lining the street are plastered and hardened to the eaves, giving a weighty feel to the two-kilometer line of quaint houses. In 2011, the street was chosen as Aichi Prefecture's first ever Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings. Visitors can enjoy walking down this street while viewing historical traces of Asuke's post town. This street was an important place in the lives of the people who passed through here in the past.

Aichi Areas

Aichi is a prefecture of great natural beauty with Nagoya city at its heart, a busy hub home to a labyrinth of underground shops and the 17th-century Nagoya Castle. Castles are easy to find in this history-rich prefecture, but the highlight for history buffs has to be the Museum Meiji-mura, where preserved buildings from the turn of the 20th century are displayed in all their grandeur in an outdoor museum.
