This shrine located in Inuyama City is the sochinju (the center place to pray for local gods) for the Nobi area, and is believed to be the guardian deity of Inuyama Castle. Since Oda Nobunaga’s uncle, Oda Nobuyasu, donated a hand-carved statue of a dog and made prayers for easy childbirth and longevity, it is widely known as a place to ask blessings for conception of children, easy childbirth and longevity. Every year in April the famous Inuyama Festival is held, and is especially beautiful when the cherry blossoms are fully open and there is a parade at night of floats moving around by the light of paper lanterns, making for a dazzling sight.
