The Kanazawa Noh Museum is located adjacent to the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, on Prefectural Route 10 in 1 Chome, Hirosaka, Kanazawa City. The Museum collects and exhibits masks and costumes from the “Kaga Hosho” tradition (a style of Noh drama that developed in the Kaga Domain), which has been designated an Intangible Cultural Asset by Kanazawa City Government. The Hirosaka district, where the Museum is situated, has a strong association with Noh drama, as this is the district where the old Kanagawa Noh Theatre was located.

The museum is on the main road and is not in the fine arts museum. We enjoyed taking pictures dressed in the noh outfit. Not much to buy. Super glad we found the place. It near the Kenrokuen. Exit on...

The garden of the 400 year old residence of a samurai family which served Kaga Domain. Built by the high-ranking Wakita family, the garden took 100 years to complete. The design of the two-tier, circular strolling garden with a pond is said to have been inspired by a painting of a three-tiered garden with waterfalls created by the Chinese Southern Song dynasty artist-monk Yujian. Notable for its undulating scenery, the garden encourages visitors to stroll around the central pond and take in the differing views which appear as one progresses.

This place is small version of Kenrokuen and you can visit for free. 兼六園をコンパクトにしたようなお庭ですが、道の舗装されているので歩きやすいです。入り口近くには休憩所もあり暖かい室内で座ることができますよう

"Located a 10 minute scheduled bus ride away from the east exit of JR Kanazawa Station, this bustling shopping and business center, one of the biggest in the Hokuriku area, was named after a monk who practiced on Mt. Hiei. The area around the ""Korinbo"" bus stop is surrounded by large shopping malls, making it a convenient destination for shopping, dining, and relaxing. Meanwhile, a short distance away, the Nagamachi Bukeyashiki-dori Street samurai residence district is lined with stone paved alleys and ochre earthen walls reminiscent of the Edo period. Here visitors can find samurai residences open to the public and museums with magnificent old architecture as well as beautiful Japanese gardens, and in turn get a glimpse of what life was like for Japan's ancient warriors. The free 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa is also located nearby."

Full-fledged construction on Kanazawa Castle was begun in 1583 by samurai general Maeda Toshiie after the Battle of Shizugatake. The rear Ishikawa Gate, facing the Kenrokuen garden, was once known as the Karamete (“back”) Gate. Records state its current name is derived from the fact that it faces the direction of Ishikawa County, and today it is used by countless tourists as one of Kanazawa Castle’s main gates. The complex structure consists of the two–tier, two-story Ishikawa Yagura turret and multiple gates, and it is believed the purpose of this design was to slow enemies in the event of an invasion. At night, visitors can enjoy the beauty of the castle lit up by lights.

A cultural facility housed inside the former Fourth National High School established by the prefecture of Ishikawa to exhibit materials relating to the history of the school and to serve as a space for cultural activities. The red brick museum building, once the primary building of the Fourth National High School, was built in 1891 with a distinct architectural style. After the high school was closed, the building was used for a variety of purposes, including serving as Kanazawa University's Faculty of Science building, a local courthouse, and as a folk customs museum. Today, the facility is used as a museum which displays educational materials once used when it was a high school, and as the Modern Literature Museum, which contains exhibits on literary masters connected to Ishikawa Prefecture such as Kyoka Izumi and Muro Saisei.

"A Soto Buddhist temple built in 1651 after the chief retainer of Kaga Domain asked the domain's lord to do so. Widely known as a temple which grants wishes, the temple is popularly visited by worshippers from around the country. The way to pray for your wish is unique-wearing a cord tied to a sign with your wish on it around your shoulder, you must circle a path called the ""Road of Happiness"" encircling statues depicting arhats and the 12 signs of the Chinese zodiac three times counter-clockwise. Some of the temple's many other highlights include the ""Kofuku Jizo,"" a statue of Kshitigarbha which grants people's prayers for children and healthy child growth; a white statue of the deity Fudo which grands beautiful skin; and a Daruma statue which grants improved luck."

"A museum located on the tip of Kanazawa Port which presents the achievements of mechanical doll maker Ono Benkichi, displays Japanese karakuri mechanical dolls, and contains interactive exhibits on karakuri. Ono was an inventor who lived in Ono Village (now Ono Town) in Ishikawa District at the end of the Edo period. Using what was then cutting edge technology, Ono created a variety of inventions, and the karakuri dolls he crafted during his lifetime are a testament to his mechanical skills. The museum presents the world of Japanese karakuri dolls with a focus on Ono. The museum's exhibits include well-known karakuri dolls such as a tea carrying doll, and also occasionally holds demonstrations which enable visitors to view the dolls in action up close. Visitors can also see a ""nozoki karakuri,"" a mechanical stage show consisting of a series of pictures viewed through a peephole which was popular with children in the Edo period. Twice a month, the museum holds interactive workshops for elementary school aged children."

A history museum located in No-machi, Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture situated on the former site of the Yoshiyonero tea house; the museum building recreates what the tea house once looked like in its heyday. The Yoshiyonero famously served as the setting of the Taisho period novel “Chijo” and an exhibit presenting materials related to its author, Seijiro Shimada, can be found on the first floor. The second floor is a tatami room with lovely rouge walls; the room is decorated with various articles appropriate to the tea house neighborhood in which the museum is situated, including gold leafed and lacquered ornaments, sensu folding fans, a shamisen, and taiko drum. Volunteer sightseeing guides who will provide a walking tour of the nearby area are also regularly stationed at the museum.

This shrine is at Higashiyama1-Chome, Kanazawa City. Erected about 1300 years ago as Tamonten Shrine, it is also called Bishamonsan. Originally the feudal lord, Maeda Toshiiewas enshrined in this place and venerated as a guardian against the unluckykimon gate. (It is currently relocated to Oyama shrine in Kanazawa City). The Setsubun Festival is held here annually and local geisha perform the bean throwing festivities.

One of the six teahouses located in the Kenrokuen garden. The teahouse existed from the time Maeda Tsunanori, fifth lord of Kaga Domain, created the Kenrokuen, and it is believed that it was primarily used for conducting the tea ceremony. The 10 and eight tatami mat rooms on the garden side and the connecting enclosure have been restored based on original ground plans. Until the original teahouse was demolished in the early Meiji period, it stood in front of where the garden fountain is now; the teahouse was rebuilt in its current location in March 2000. Today, visitors can enjoy matcha green and sencha green teas here for a small fee. Many people stop by to have a cup of tea and a Japanese confection while strolling the garden.

700 Yen and 10 minutes later we got to sit down, drink a cup of tea and eat piece of cake. There is nothing happening, no ceremony, no ambience, just a big room and a bow when the tea is brought.

The Nagamachi Samurai District is a popular tourist destination in Nagamachi, Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture; a gate called the Nagaya-mon Gate stands in a corner of the district. The gate is the entrance to the Takada Family Residence; the Takada family were once feudal retainers of the former Kaga Domain who received 550 koku of rice annually. Today, the Nagaya-mon Gate has been restored to its original state and the residence is open to the public. A traditional circular garden built around a central pond stands on the residence’ grounds which is dotted with Japanese red pines and a meandering stream fed by the Onosho Irrigation Channel also flows through the garden. Other highlights include the servants’ quarters, stable, and workshop. The residence is a valuable site which offers visitors a glimpse of the life of a samurai family during Japan’s feudal domain era.

"Known as one of the ""Five Kanazawa Shrines"" and as the birthplace of Kaga Hachiman Okiagari roly-poly dolls, this Shinto shrine is also the only shrine in the prefecture to be dedicated to the god Suiten (in addition to being dedicated to Hachiman). The shrine was founded in 939. Located in Konohana-machi, a neighborhood which was once occupied by many swordsmiths, the shrine was once used for sword christening ceremonies, and accordingly it is also known as the ""Swordsmith Hachiman."" During the Edo period, the Maeda clan, which ruled Kaga Domain, would come here to pray for recovery when disease struck. The shrine's Kaga Hachiman Okiagari dolls are modeled after the image of the god Hachiman just after he was born when he was wrapped in crimson swaddling clothes. Images of the dolls are also painted on the shrine's charms and ema votive tablets, and many people purchase these and the tolls to pray for protection from misfortune, recovery from disease, and the health of their children."
