    "This valley is famous for the four different waterfalls that spread out as wide as Niagara falls. The area around the first falls alternates between hard and soft rock layers, resulting in a number of ""giant's kettle"" phenomena. These giant's kettles are now designated Toyama National Natural Monuments."

    The Sacred Kannon Bodhisattva enshrined at Senko-ji temple is a Prefecture Designated Cultural Property. Kannon-do is the building holding the principal object of worship here, the Bronze Kannon Bodhisattva statue, and its main construction is the work of an Inami carpenter the second-generation Matsui Kakuhei Tsuneyoshi. Kannon-do's incredible fittings include paneled doors, and latticed doors and windows, and the temple roof has incredible carvings of a dragon transom, and a tiger lurking in bamboo, while the interior transoms have various figures including a must-see lion carving.

    This facility offers a view of the dispersed settlements of the Tonami plain. The parking is close by, and there are no stairs to climb, so it's easy to access for all ages. The sunset is particularly beautiful, and in the rice planting season the sunset reflected on the water-filled paddies is stunning. From early December through mid-April, the roads are often closed due to snow so take care.

    This spring is said to have sprung up in the hoofprint of the horse of Zuisen-ji founding priest Shakunyo, about 600 years ago. Legend says that Shakunyo named it after a gourd (uri) presented by local villagers broke open (wari) because the water was so cold. The delicious water has been selected one of Japan's Top 100 Famous Water, and people come from even outside the prefecture to taste it.

    This market, located inside Shogawa Aqua Memorial Park, offers a variety of Shogawa and Tonami souvenirs and local specialties. Look for the massive water wheel. The cafe corner has Shogawa's famous Yuzu soft-serve ice cream, Oyaki dumplings, and more dishes. The wooden deck outside has a free foot bath using Shogawa Shimizu hot spring water to enjoy. They have a variety of events attracting big crowds, as well. It's equipped also the prefecture's first racing cycle relay points, CS1.

    This kiln in Tonami city, which is known as a city of tulips and dispersed settlements, has been firing pottery for 150 years. They use locally sources clay, and glaze it with oils from local vegetation, for all their pottery. The pale but deep green glaze, made with generations of tradition, is a unique one. They also offer pottery classes on request. Reservations are required, so please call in advance.

    "This facility was built to help preserve the vanishing kainyo copses around the dispersed farmhouses for future generations, and to offer a center for lifelong learning. Dispersed villages are communities where the farmhouses are scattered around individually, and the small copses around each house which create their unique scenery are called ""kainyo."" The former Kanaoka family house was designated as a Tonami City Cultural Property in 2002 as a representative large house of the Tonami Plain Dispersed Village region."

    富山県砺波市が誇るチューリップ。そのフェアが開催されるチューリップ公園に隣接して、砺波市文化会館が建っていました。 コンサートなどのイベントが行われる会場なんですが、チューリップ公園側には、パノラマテラスという屋上部分があるんです。そこに上がると、チューリップフェアの様子が一望できると思います。私たちが訪れた5月中旬は、テラスが閉鎖されていて、登ることはできませんでした。

    10月の3連休に砺波へ行った時にコスモスウォッチングを見に行きました。行く途中の道路には渋滞だと1時間以上かかるような看板があったので心配しましたが、渋滞はなく大駐車場に駐めることができました。スキー場の下部はコスモスの花でピンク色に染まっています。花畑の中を歩いてもいいし、頂上の散居村展望台へ上るリフトに乗って上から眺めるのもお勧めです。

    女子プロゴルフのメジャー戦、コニカミノルタ杯の観戦で訪問した。土日ともに雨だったが、申ジエのすごいバーディーパットを何回も見た。シャトルバスの運営もスムーズだった。

    庄川の水の資料館でしたよ。 庄川と地元の方が過ごしてきた歴史を感じられましたね!! 江戸時代から昭和初期まで行われてきた、流木作業を再現したジオラマ模型の展示は感動しましたね!!
