This Starbucks Coffee is located inside Toyama Kansui Park, a 16-minute walk from Toyama Station's North Gate. It is notable for the simple design of its glass-walled building that blends into the scenery of the park. Customers can enjoy a coffee while taking in the beautiful scenery of Kansui Park, which was built on an old boat haven. The park is illuminated at night, giving guests an entirely different view to enjoy.

We rushed here for the sunset, disappointed that the place was under renovation. Sunset in the park was beautiful. I can only imagine how nice it would be to have a cuppa too.

Shiroebitei is a specialist white prawn restaurant located in the Toyamarche shopping center on the ground floor level of Toyama Station. Besides white prawn tendon (a bowl of rice topped with deep-fried seafood) and white prawn sashimi don made using white prawn delivered fresh each morning from Shinminato fishing harbor, Shiroebitei also serves a range of other seafood don and tendon dishes featuring fish and seafood from the Sea of Japan. The “Kito Kito Set Meal,” which combines white prawn tempura with draft beer or sake, is also very popular. White prawn tempura, tendon and sashimi don are also available for take-out.

I drop at the place in the afternoon, just to try the famous white shrimp fries. It is sweat and very tasty with the special salt. You can take it out but I strongly recommend to eat on site, so that...

Sushiei Sogawa Branch located in Sogawa, Toyama City, Toyama Prefecture is a sushi restaurant which opened in 1948 and is well-established with many repeat customers from outside of Toyama Prefecture. Under the concept of getting people to enjoy delicious sushi, there is only sushi on its menu. It has a range of fresh local seafood from Toyama as well as seasonal seafood sourced from all over Japan, and has continued to serve authentic sushi with shining craftsmanship. The restaurant does not allow drinking or smoking, so women and non-drinkers can also feel free to eat there.

This place is simply where I had the best sushi I ever ate in my whole life. Period. What more can I say.

A ramen restaurant located on floor B1 of the CiC building, which is located just past the south exit of JR Toyama Station. Famous for its Toyama black ramen, a local favorite characterized by its dark black broth, the restaurant is a frequent destination for tourists. This flavorful broth, made by combining a chicken and seafood stock with a slow-stewed fish sauce, is the restaurant’s pride and joy. Despite appearances, the flavor is actually quite light. The stylish interior, accented with red here and there, makes it easy even for women to enter on their own.

Came for the ramen but loved the gyoza! Amongst our group we ordered the black soy ramen, white shrimp ramen, roast pork rice and pork gyoza. I personally found the broth on my white shrimp ramen...

"This historic site, the location of a Meiji period shipping agent, is a 20-minute drive from JR Toyama Station. Many a fortune was made through shipping in Higashi-Iwase Port between the last days of the Tokugawa Shogunate and the Meiji period. The merchant ships of the period, kitamaebune (""northbound ships""), where also called ""double ships"" because you could double your money in each direction. You can truly feel the history of Edo period merchant shipping in this home, a nationally-designated Important Cultural Property built in 1878. The flowing style of the curator makes tours a lot of fun. The building's biggest attraction is its luxurious construction using high-quality materials from across Japan, including a door made with Yakushima cedar, Noto black pine beams, and a massive monolith from the Shodoshima Islands. The building's oi-no-ma (a room that serves as a kitchen and living room), kote-e (plaster relief pictures) depicting dragons and tigers, and nightingale floor passageway adjacent to the courtyard add to its stately manner."

This castle also known as Ukishiro (The Floating Castle), which stands in a corner of Toyama Castle Ruin Park, was chosen for the second selection of Japan's best 100 castles. Toyama Castle is believed to have been constructed by Mizukoshi Katsushige on the orders of his lord, Jinbo Nagamoto, around 1543. While the castle tower is a post-war reconstruction built in 1954, the castle's moats and stone walls are still original. The interior of the castle serves as the location of Toyama Municipal Folk Museum. The museum features exhibits on the history of Toyama Castle from when it was built during the Warring States Period until now. The observation deck at the top of the four-story castle keep gives visitors a feel for the size and scope of Toyama Castle at its peak in the Edo period. The 140 centimeter-tall helmet said to have been used by Maeda Toshinaga is well worth seeing.

The inside of Toyama Castle is Toyama Folk Museum, which displays the history of Toyama. And if you enter this museum, you can go up the top of the castle. However, if you look over the city, the...

"This ramen shop which opened in 1947 is the originator of Toyama black ramen, Toyama's first ""B-class gourmet."" The shop, located a one-minute walk from Toyama City Tram Line Grand Plaza Station, is frequented by celebrities. Its main item, chuka soba (ramen noodles), is notable for its dark black soup, roast pork, and coarse-ground pepper. The richly-flavored broth packs a punch that borders on briny. Diners who cannot handle the saltiness can eat the ramen with a side of white rice to adjust the flavor. Beloved by laborers in Toyama since right after the end of World War II, Toyama black ramen has been thought of as a soul food for generations of Toyama citizens."

It is a 10-minute walk north from Toyama Toyopet Honsha-mae Station (Gofukusuehirocho) on Prefectural Route 56. It is notable for its single-story Japanese-style building. The museum's permanent exhibits include the works of notable modern-era painters such as Yokoyama Taikan and Takeuchi Seiho, as well as paints with ties to Toyama Prefecture such as Kaho Akira. The ""Suiboku"" in the museum's name refers not just to ink wash paintings, but more broadly to Japanese aesthetics as a whole.
