This trout sushi specialty shop a two-minute walk from Toyama Chihou Railway Kencho-mae or Marunouchi stations is obsessed with creating trout sushi with a rich, fully-bodied flavor. They soak thick-cut trout at the peak of its savoriness in specially-made sweet vinegar to create a refined taste. This is combined with rice grown in Toyama Prefecture, which is pressed slightly stronger than usual to give the sushi a resilient texture. In addition to traditional trout sushi, the shop also offers extra-special trout sushi with even thicker cuts of trout, as well as trout sushi that can substitute for a wedding cake.

"This soba noodle shop in Sengokumachi, Toyama City, Toyama Prefecture serves their homemade noodles with their homemade dipping sauce. Their flagship item is their kusushisoba (""doctor's soba"" noodles). This certified Toyama Yakuzen (medicinal cooking) dish is made by blending herbal medicine into the domestic buckwheat flour used to make the noodles. This healthy and delicious item does not have the unpleasant odor or bitterness associated with herbal medicine. Many variants are available, including versions served with chicken nanban (fried chicken with a special sauce) or tempura. The restaurant also offers a variety of a la carte items including miso curry udon noodles, Toyama black ramen, tempura assortments, and dashimaki tamago (Japanese-style rolled omelets)."

    Toyama Pref. Toyamashi Okudashinmachi 2-27
"This modern art museum is a ten minute walk north from JR Toyama Station. The name stems from the fact that the arbor in the garden was named ""Rakusuitei"" (literally meaning ""pavilion for enjoying the greenery"") by Otani Kosho, who was the head monk of Nishi Hongan-ji Temple. The main gallery is located inside of a nostalgic old Japanese-style house. It displays works of pottery and handicrafts that harmonize with the four seasonal faces of the museum's Japanese garden. The museum also has a gallery built inside of an old renovated storehouse. It serves as a place to exhibit a variety of expressions, embodiments, and challenges, including both flat and three-dimensional pieces. The museum's shop, located inside of a modern western-style building, offers a selection of souvenirs characteristic of Toyama Prefecture including original merchandise and artisanal pottery."

"This ramen shop which opened in 1947 is the originator of Toyama black ramen, Toyama's first ""B-class gourmet."" The shop, located a one-minute walk from Toyama City Tram Line Grand Plaza Station, is frequented by celebrities. Its main item, chuka soba (ramen noodles), is notable for its dark black soup, roast pork, and coarse-ground pepper. The richly-flavored broth packs a punch that borders on briny. Diners who cannot handle the saltiness can eat the ramen with a side of white rice to adjust the flavor. Beloved by laborers in Toyama since right after the end of World War II, Toyama black ramen has been thought of as a soul food for generations of Toyama citizens."
