The Chokei-ji Temple is a Buddhist temple belonging to the Soto school of Zen Buddhism situated on Mt. Kureha in the suburbs of Toyama City, in Toyama Prefecture. The main object of veneration at the Temple was originally a Daibutsu (Great Buddha Statue) known as the Sakuradani Daibutsu; however, this Statue was removed in 1870 as the result of an order issued by the Toyama Domain, and today only the head remains. Behind the Temple, over 500 stone statues of the Buddha’s disciples stand facing the Tateyama Mountains; the calm, peaceful expressions on their faces leave visitors deeply moved. This area is renowned for its spectacular cherry blossom, and is thronged with both locals and tourists in the cherry blossom season.

Located near the folk museum is this lovely hillside with 500 statues. It has a nice overlook to Toyama and the Tateyama mountain Range. It is close to other places of interest in the Fold Museum...

This glass studio a 20-minute drive from JR Toyama Station is located in the center of Toyama City, which has made glass a part of its community building initiatives. The harmony of wood and glass makes the studio a rather soothing space. Visitors can watch the studio's glass sculptors work, touch the various exhibits in the shop gallery, and even try their hand at glass blowing or making glass paperweights. The staff's careful guidance means that even a beginner can enjoy making a one-of-a-kind piece of glass art. Stopping to enjoy a drink served in a handcrafted glass at Glass Cafe Clie, the studio's cafe, is a truly special experience.
