    This food store and café is located near the West Exit of Echigo-Yuzawa Station. They also sell koji-pickled items and other sides for rice, Uonuma Koshihikari rice from contracted farms, and miso which is also used in the adjacent lodge “Hatago Isen.” Also, they have original sweets like “Yuzawa ruuro” (limited 24 per day)—a roll-cake made using rice flour. And in the adjacent café, you can enjoy a toast set or sweets with your coffee made with hot spring water.

    "MUJI Campsites was established in Tsunan based on the concept of ""enjoying nature just as it is."" Located next to 903-meter Mt. Yamabushi, it offers a panoramic view of one of Japan's largest fluvial terrace. In the surrounding broadleaf forest of trees such as beech, Mongolian oak, and white birch, visitors can enjoy collecting of wild plants or mushrooms. The spacious grounds offer large campsites, including a permanent tenting site and cottages that visitors may want to use in bad weather. In addition, visitors can enjoy such outdoor facilities as a full-scale mountain biking course, fishing areas, walking trails, and a water park, all of which allow visitors to enjoy nature to their heart's content."

    新潟の津南にある無印良品のキャンプ場。長野県栄村との境で、山の奥深くにある。各サイトともかなり広く、余裕を持ってキャンプが楽しめる。プライベート感があり、高いススキで囲まれており、芝生も気持ちいい。センターハウスには無印良品の商品をはじめ、食べ物、アウトドア商品が充実。アウトドア体験も釣りやカヌー、自転車などたくさんある。無印良品のキャンプ場はどれもハイレベルで良い。

    Kojimaya Souhonten, said to be the birthplace of local specialty Hegisoba, located in Nakayashiki, Tokamachi City, Niigata Prefecture. Hegisoba is a type of soba that is served in a wooden dish called a hegi. Funori seaweed is added to the homemade buckwheat flour ground on a millstone to make this popular Niigata specialty. The restaurant serves a variety of dishes from bowls of noodles to more formal dishes, priding itself on always sticking to the three principles of freshly ground, freshly kneaded, and freshly boiled. A popular dish on the menu is their seasonal Tenbara-zen served with a large portion of kakiage (mixed vegetable and seafood tempura). There is also an area in the restaurant which introduces the history of the biggest water mills in the prefecture and the story behind hegisoba.

    Ryujin no Yakata is a hot spring facility for day use in the town of Tsunan, Naka-uonuma County, Niigata Prefecture. It is located near Ryugakubo Spring, renowned as one of the 100 finest natural springs in Japan, and it is one spot where visitors can experience the abundant water from this spring. There is a long, narrow, dragon-shaped rock bath called Ryujin no Yu and a wooden bath patterned after a shrine forest called Jomon no Yu. Men and women trade places every Wednesday. A spacious tatami room where customers can relax after bathing is available at no charge, and individual rooms are available for a fee. There is even a restaurant where visitors can enjoy set meals or noodles.

    毎年キャンプの時に利用しています。 こじんまりとしていますが、とても気に入っています。火焔型土器からお湯があふれる内風呂には縄文好きも私も娘も大変興奮し、外風呂には内風呂の窓にある小さなドアをおして出るのも楽しかったです。外の休憩所も大きくは無いけど、すごく心地良い空間でした。

    This volcano stands 2,145 meters tall at the boundary between Niigata and Nagano Prefectures. Located in Joshinetsu-Kogen National Park at its summit is Ime-jinja Shrine which has long drawn those looking to befriend the god of rice cultivation. Near the summit spreads a wetland where you can see all sorts of beautiful alpine plants including the Miyama-bulrush. This beauty has led to the area being selected by the Ministry of the Environment as one of Japan's 500 important wetlands. During the winter the ski-slope at the foot of the mountain draws lots of visitors. Different mountain climbing routes are being developed and between late-June and mid-October lots of mountain climbing visitors flock to the mountain.

    Najomon is an experiential learning center located in Tsunan Town, Nakauonuma County. It offers a wide range of experience activities, including opportunities to try your hand at making stone tools, making fire, harvesting grain or collecting medicinal plants, etc. Through these activities and through the center’s thematic exhibitions, visitors can learn about life in the Jomon era. Najomon also has a “Jomon Village” with authentic Jomon-style pit dwellings, as well as fields, an area of natural forest, and a range of other outdoor facilities.

The noodle broth is packed full of flavor from niboshi (dried infant sardines) making for a rich tasting soup. Also called Ginzan Lake (Silver Mountain Lake) it's known for its superb water quality from the snow melt of neighboring valleys and picturesque autumn scenery.     This 1967-meter mountain sits between Minamiuonuma City, Niigata Prefecture and Minakami Town, Tone County, Gunma Prefecture. Visitors can enjoy sake made in 93 different breweries from the Niigata Echigo area in the “Sake Tasting corner” and “rice ball bombs” made from Koshihikari rice grown in the Minamiuonuma area at the “Yukinhora” restaurant as well as a sake bath called the “Yunosawa” in the facility. In the produce sales section, special Niigata products such as local foods using rice and “koji” rice malt, sake and confectioneries are sold. It is an irresistible spot for those who are Japanese sake enthusiasts.

    To reach this municipal hot spring center take the bus from Matsudai Station on the Hokuetsu Express Hokuhoku Line for 25 minutes and get off at the Matsu-no-Yama Onsen bus stop. Both indoor and outdoor baths are available. Matsunoyama Onsen is counted as one of Echigo's top three most famous hot springs and draws its water from one of seven wellsprings. The spring is known to have a strong medical benefit and due to its high salinity, you won't feel a chill after leaving the baths even in the winter. The spring contains both sulfur and calcium chloride and is said to have the highest content of boric acid in Japan.

The restaurant boasts a panoramic view of Akiyamago; the Moegi Teishoku combo meal, made with an abundance of local ingredients, is particularly recommended. The hearty meal comes with char grilled with salt shioyaki style, kenchin jiru vegetable soup, a local stew called hira, and a side. The use of local Uonuma-grown Koshihikari rice further enhances the innate flavors of the ingredients used.

    A day-use hot spring bathhouse in a little township, Futai on Mikuni Kaido, ancient highway. It is located 30 minutes from the Yuzawa Interchange. This is the only publicly managed hot spring bathhouse in Yuzawa with a jacuzzi and sauna. The bathhouse only has a men’s and a women’s indoor bathing area, but each is equipped with two tubs and a sauna, and customers can enjoy a relaxing soak in the spacious rooms. The bathhouse is also replete with a variety of other facilities, including a restaurant, rest lounge, and permanent children’s art exhibition. Located close to Kagura Tashiro, Kagura Mitsumata, and other area ski resorts, as well, the bathhouse bustles with skiers in winter.

    田代スキー場駐車場近くにある日帰り温泉。露天はなく小さめの作りですが清潔感があり、スキー帰りに立ち寄るのに悪くない。料金はいくら忘れましたが、かなり安かったと思います。畳の休憩所があります。

Customers can relax and unwind in the bathhouse’ outdoor bath, which boasts an expansive view of the Kiyotsu River terrace. Because the baths are filled directly from the spring, their waters change slightly depending on the season and weather. Because you can experience these natural spring waters completely unprocessed, the bathhouse has many customers hailing from across the prefecture and beyond who come back here again and again.     This pyramid-shaped hot spring facility is located in Uonuma City's Oyu Park. The hot spring's simple weak alkaline water is known as beauty water. It is kind to the skin and can be safely enjoyed by people of all ages, from babies to the elderly. There are a variety of different areas within the park, from an area which can be used for a variety of purposes from sports to lectures, a community hall, which can be used for table tennis and aerobics, and a multipurpose athletics hall. And, after enjoying events and working up a sweat with the sports in the park, visitors can wash it off in the hot spring.

    新潟県魚沼市、奥只見シルバーラインの入り口を入らず、1km程直進した所にある大湯温泉にある、公共温泉です。体育館に併設されていました。 建物の大きさの割には、浴室はやや小さめ。温泉も循環で利用され、消毒臭が気になりました。
