Located 12 minutes away by bus from the west exit of Keihin Electric Express Railway Kanazawa-bunko Station; get off at the “Natsuyamasakaue” stop. A municipal zoo located in Kanazawa Natural Park. Focusing primarily on rare herbivores animals, many animals found at no other zoo are kept here. The zoo has prepared spacious grounds for keeping its large herbivores, and you can take your time and enjoy watching them amidst beautiful natural environments. Time your visit right, and you can watch koalas eating eucalyptus leaves. There’s also a petting zoo where you can play with goats and sheep. The great grey kangaroo area, which lets visitors actually walk through it, is particularly popular.

a good place to visit while in Yokohama. It is easy to locate.Tthere’s a bus a couple of blocks away.

The Taya Caves belong to the Josen-ji Temple, a Shingon Buddhist temple which was founded in Japan’s Muromachi period. The caves are said to have first been opened up in the Kamakura period, and the walls are carved with images of the great monk Kukai and the principle objects of worship in pilgrimage sites throughout Shikoku, Saigoku, Bando, and Chichibu. Pay a small fee to receive a traditional “yuraisho” documenting the history of the temple and a votive candle, after which you may follow a 300 meter long path to a worship site. As you engage in quiet and solemn prayer in the caves, you will begin to feel their long history. Closest station: Ofuna Station.

Cave is unfortunately only partly open to the public, but is very impressive that the monks over many years build such a laerge cave for prayers and meditation. You receive a candle for lichting but...

This Shinto shrine can be reached by leaving from the east exit of Kanazawa-Hakkei Station and heading a short distance northeast from The Kanazawa-hakkei-ekimae Intersection. It is believed the actual shrine was built during the Kamakura period during the time of Minamoto no Yoritomo. The shrine is dedicated to Oyamatsumi-no-Mikoto, god of traffic safety, travel safety, and prosperous business. The shrine possesses Noh masks which have been designated National Important Cultural Properties. The shrine holds a Tenno Festival in mid-July.

Ramen Sugita-ya is the first directly managed restaurant by Yoshimura-ya, which is widely known for its iekei-style ramen (pork bone broth with soy sauce and strait noodles). For many years it has carefully preserved the flavor and taste of its birthplace ramen. Large amounts of chicken bones and pork bones are used as a base for a broth of exquisite thickness. The cooks are proud of the careful, rhythmic way in which they drain water from the noodles, for this is one action that helps determine the taste. Inside the shop is a notice board that shows how to eat ramen in a tastier way. The shop opens quite early, at 5:00 a.m.

Superb delicious lamen. Only 15 seats always busy with queues to taste the most marvelous lamen you can eat in Japan. Broth is cooked in large pans. Show lamen cookers

"This Nichiren Buddhist temple is located a one-minute walk from Keikyu Minamiota Station. Famously known as the ""Hariti of Ota,"" the temple enshrines a statue of Kishimojin said to have once been kept in the inner palace in the Edo period. The temple's large main temple building escaped destruction during the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923 as well as the bombing of Yokohama and famously played a significant role as an accommodation space for victims after these events. The view from the vicinity of the temple's huge statue of the monk Nichiren, which stands on a rise, is spectacular. Visitors can get a sweeping view encompassing the Kannai and Yamashita-cho districts."
