    Travel / Tourism
    Kumamoto Amakusa-shi Funenoomachi
"The official name is the ""Gionbashi Fusekizo Kinenhi."" It's called Gion Bridge because of its location in front of Gion-jinja Shrine. The bridge's simple design features stone columns and triangular streamlined piers to aid the flow of water. Its multi-pier design is rarely found in Japan. 28.6 meters long and about 3.3 meters wide, it is one of the largest stone girder bridges in the country. The bridge was also the site of the largest battle of the Amakusa Shimabara Rebellion. As some of the stonework has fallen off, it is currently impassable."
