    The Kuchiba clan was a samurai family of the Yorigumi rank, which was just below the Eidai-garo rank in the Hagi domain. This house is one of the oldest among the remaining castle town manors of upper-rank samurai, and as it represents a relatively rare example of samurai house nationwide, it is a nationally designated Important Cultural Property. The front gate is one of the largest scale Nagaya-mon gates remaining in Hagi, and is said to have been dismantled and relocated to Hagi from the domain's Edo residence as a gift. It offers a valuable glimpse of the times, with various feudal era traces like the Mori family crest and hidden rooms for retainers to use for security.

    This pottery faces Hagi's Horiuchi district. The owner himself made the climbing kiln, and uses it to carry on the tradition of Hagi-yaki ware. Ikkeigama kiln focuses on Oni-Hagi (demon Hagi ware), a style that uses very rough clay slow-fired in climbing kilns. The pieces feature incredibly coarse soil, sometimes including small stones, and are characterized by knurling in the glaze called kairagi, and fine cracks on the surface called jiware. The works that have undergone the cherry-colored transformation during firing, unique to the climbing kiln, bring out a distinctive taste.

    This restaurant stands at the entrance to the Hagi Museum, and offers a menu built around the motto of local production for local consumption. Their Hushed Beef and Rice topped with ?u?y egg, which features Yamaguchi prefecture raised beef in a thick tomato-demi glace sauce topped with a fluffy omelet, is a decadent treat that took second place at the Yamaguchi Bishoku Collection gourmet contest. Their abundant use of locally sourced ingredients like fish and beef in dishes like Seasonal fish fry set meal or the Prefectural beef croquette lunch has earned it a designation as a Yamaguchi Shokusaiten, a restaurant which offers local ingredients produced in Yamaguchi Prefecture. Their popular dessert menu features soft-serve ice cream and chiffon cake with their original summer tangerine sauce.

    This shop is inside Hagi Museum. They offer original merchandise based on the museum's collection, as well as their pictorial records of special exhibition, books about Hagi figures like Yoshida Shoin or Takasugi Shinsaku, and more. From mid-February through late March, they have a special Camellia section to match the yearly Hagi Camellia Festival. During the festival, they sell flower-patterned phone straps, Goshuin-cho seal stamp books, Japanese hand towels, and more. The Hagi-made summer tangerine sweets also make perfect souvenirs of your trip. It's a popular destination during any trip to the museum, or even when just strolling by sightseeing!

    This samurai manor row house gate was on the Kita no Somon Suji street out of the old San-no-maru, outermost region of the castle. The outstanding design elements of this single-story building, like its tile roof, metal fittings of thick-barred latticed bay windows, and stonework are all very well preserved. It offers a revealing look at the archetypal construction of samurai manor row houses in the mid-Edo period. The Suu family held lands worth 1,530 koku (a measure of samurai's stipend equal to a traditional measure of rice) and led the senior vassals of Hagi Domain stationed in Suu village in Shimane prefecture as the Local Administrator for the Suu district of Iwami province.

    萩から角島大橋に向かう途中に食事をとろうと思って立ち寄りました。晴れていたので絶景を見ながら食事をとりたかったのですが、順番待ちに時間がかかりそうなのであきらめて食堂で売っていたお弁当を買いました。リーズナブルなお弁当だったのですが美味しかったです。時間がない方にはお弁当もおすすめです。

    道の駅としてはそんなに大きいところでなくこじんまりとしていました。レストランも併設されていますが、レストランと言うより村の食堂という感じです。自分は１日１０食限定の日替わりランチをいただきましたが、この日は魚のフライでした。山の中でん？っておもいましたが、ご飯と小鉢のかぼちゃの煮つけは美味しかったです。

    名前にうり坊と付いているだけあって中では猪の肉が豊富に売られていました。ちょうど１月下旬でジビエの時期と合っていたのもあるのでしょうが、これだけの品ぞろえをしているところもなかなかないですね。

    市内中心部に立つ浄土宗寺院で、1550年建立の表門が重要文化財に指定されていました。重要文化財だけあってか、その表門は閉じられており周囲に柵が立っていましたが境内への出入には問題ありませんでした。周囲を塀で囲まれた境内はやや窮屈感がありましたが、整備された境内には直線だけで無く曲線も用いられた本堂が立っていました。
