A venerable okonomiyaki savory pancake shop located in Osaka City’s Chuo Ward founded in 1945 in the postwar devastated Minami area. This restaurant sees an unending line of patrons waiting to get in consisting not only of long-going regulars but also tourists from throughout Japan and the world. Harnessing the distinct deliciousness of the ingredients used, the shop’s okonomiyaki taste good even without sauce and are made according to an old fashioned, secret recipe passed down over the years. The shop’s most popular menu item is its “yamaimo-yaki,” a type of okonomiyaki made with Japanese yams instead of flour along with hearty portions of scallops, pork, and shrimp.

We queued for half an hour but it was worth it. The food was prepared in front of us on a hot bbq plate set into our table. We had a set menu of three different dishes with a variety of tasty treats...

Fukutaro located in Chuo Ward, Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture is an okonomiyaki (Japanese pancake) restaurant and is famous with long queues. The most popular dish is the negiyaki using plenty of green spring onion produced in Osaka. It is an exclusive dish in which the homemade soy based sauce goes well with the flavor of the batter, and the Sujinegiyaki with beef sinew is particularly popular. As seafood such as octopus, scallops and oysters is purchased directly from Osaka Chuo Market, it is freshness itself. There is a range of okonomiyaki with a springy texture and a la carte menu items. Inside the restaurant, it offers an atmosphere of an old-fashioned okonomiyaki restaurant in downtown Osaka. Booking is not available.

Amazing fresh food served. Staff are friendly and very helpful. The menu’s at the time unfortunately were only available in Japanese but the staff were kind enough to take me through in English...

Okonomiyaki CHIBO is a restaurant specializing in Okonomiyaki (savory pancakes), located in Dotonbori in the Chuo Ward of Osaka City. The restaurant’s original pancake mix—which is made from around 20 different types of flour mixed with high-quality onsen water—ensures plump pancakes with a mellow flavor. Okonomiyaki CHIBO pays particular attention to its sauces, which play a key role in enhancing the flavor; the restaurant’s low-calorie original sauces are made using carefully-selected fruits and vegetables. The spacious dining area, with around 200 seats, is kept spotlessly clean, and the restaurant is a popular choice for dates and for women to get together with their female friends.

Visited chibo as we had seen a number of reviews saying there was a vegi and vegan menu. We waited in the queue outside for some time and a staff member asked us to pre order. She said there was no...

Besides soft, fluffy Okonomiyaki (Japanese savory pancake) made using plenty of delicious yam, Bonkuraya also offers a Teppanyaki menu and a range of set meal options. Inside the restaurant, the walls are covered with the densely-packed signatures of celebrities who have eaten at Bonkuraya; tables near the window provide superb views of the Dotonbori River. Many of the items on the menu are very reasonably priced, and diners can enjoy first-class Teppanyaki that doesn’t cost a fortune. The Petite-yaki Six Varieties, which provides the opportunity to try small portions of several different Teppanyaki dishes, is very popular among female diners and as an alternative for children. Bonkuraya is located around seven minutes’ walk from both Kintetsu Nippombashi Station and Osaka Namba Station.

We wanted to try the Kansai style okonomiyaki - savoury pancake with toppings like meat. We found this just along the Dotonbori canal. We ordered one standard and one house favourite - 巨乳焼き. The...

Sennichimae Hatsuse is a long-established okonomiyaki restaurant which began in 1945. As it used to be operated as a ryokan (Japanese style accommodation), all seating is in relaxing individual rooms. Double sauce with a secret mixture combining four types of flour and Japanese stock covered with two types of sauce is the key to the taste. Mix, a main dish with pork, squid and prawn as well as Butatama (a pork topping) are popular. The Hatsuse set meal which allows you to enjoy a pork hot plate pot, squid tempura (deep fry) and other items is also well-received. As you can cook by yourself on a hot plate at each table, groups and families can enjoy their meals while having fun. The closest station is Namba Station.

Went for lunch with family. Not overly crowded. Interesting DIY concept for okonomiyaki and yaki soba. Comes with instructions in English so easy to follow. Food cooks in about ten minutes. Quality...

This is the original store of the national franchise, okonomiyaki specialty store Chibo. The original sauce with a hint of sweetness and fresh fragrant after taste, is made so that it is perfect when it is poured on to the hot okonomiyaki-pancake. In addition to okonomiyaki, which is the store's signature dish, Negi-yaki (grilled green onion pancakes) with a specialty sauce that uses onions (kujo negi) freshly delivered from Kyoto, is a popular dish. The second floor can cater to 50 guests and is available to be reserved for groups over 40 people.

Our favourite meal in Osaka was at Chibo in Osakas Namba region where we devoured Okonomiyaki twice. We loved that okonomiyaki is cooked in front of you, adding to the food experience. After it’s...

The okonomiyaki is made from vaunted ingredients which the owner himself purchases. There is a full range of okonomiyaki from the standard fare to original items. The Osaka tsuruhashi yaki (pancake) which has a superb flavor made by mixing in slowly stewed beef sinew and kimchi (a fermented Korean pickle) is popular. A yellow Zenchan doll in front of the restaurant is the landmark. The Modern Yaki featuring uniquely blended flour is famous, and you can enjoy a unique Osaka taste with a perfect combination of the springy mixture and secret sauce. This teppanyaki grill izakaya Japanese-style pub is located in the Nihonbashi 2 Chome, Chuo Ward, Osaka City. In addition to original creative teppanyaki dishes, they also offer a unique drink menu. Their famous “tonpei-yaki” has characteristically juicy pork wrapped in the middle of a fluffy omelet.

This was a gem of a find. Very local, almost no English but we could still understand each other and get our orders placed. The vibe is great like a hipster teppanyaki tapas bar. Very tiny, very...
