    Located along Kawara-machi Street, this Japanese confectioner was founded in 1899. Their famous “nadai mamemochi” features red bean jam and red peas wrapped in freshly-made mochi. It has been around since the founding, and is a standard Kyoto souvenir, popular enough to see people lining up to get some.

    A confectioner that first opened in 1953 and now has three directly managed shops and six distributors across Kyoto City. They continue to make traditional Kyoto confections while striving ever further to create better treats searching for a candy enlightenment. One of the shops stand out confections is their Famous Kyoto Unryu treat. Each is made by hand with the finest large Tanba Dainagon red beans and shaped to represent a dragon riding atop a cloud. The flavor of the red beans and the gentle mouthfeel only possible with freshly made sweets makes for an exquisite harmony. Their dried candies and confections made to resemble the changing of the seasons are a treasure to be viewed and ideal for souvenirs or gifts.

    A Japanese-style confectioner that makes a limited quantity of daily treats. The owner of the shop personally travels every year to the Tanba region to ensure they use the highest quality Tanba Dainagon red beans and black beans. Their Kyoto Rakuhoku confection made with simmered Tanba Dainagon red beans offering a low-key sweetness and their Miyako-no-Tsuki confection made with carefully prepared red beans and hardened Agar can only be purchased at the Main Store.

    宝泉堂本店は、住宅街の中にひっそりとある宝泉堂の本店は、うっかりすると辿り着けません。ただし素晴らしいお庭を眺めながら、素晴らしいお菓子を購入出来ます。私のおすすめは、しぼり豆丹波黒大寿です。これは、京都通が購入するお菓子です。素朴で懐かしい味がします。親戚にも評判が良いです。

    上御領神社のすぐ前で文明9年から店を構える老舗です。商品はたった一種類、手焼きの「唐板（からいた）」のみ、素朴でなんの飾り気もない煎餅ですが滋味深い味です。疫病除けの煎餅として始まったとのこと、京都高島屋のお菓子売り場でも販売しています。インスタ映えがする派手なお菓子や商品がもてはやされ氾濫する中、このような地味で目立たないが素晴らしい煎餅があるんですよ！

    黒みつだんごが名物のお店。串にささっているおだんごで、黒みつだんごとありますが、なかをみると黄な粉団子かなと思うほどの黄な粉がたくさん。そして黄な粉のしたにくろみつとお団子がはいっている。素朴なおいしさ。お日持ちが当日中なので、土産にはちょっと向かないかな。
