    "This castle site park sprawls in front of Uenoshi Station on the Iga Line. Iga Ueno Castle, the park's symbol, is notable for its high stone walls built by Warring States period commander Todo Takatora. Due to the beauty of the white, three-tiered fortress, it is also known as Hakuho (""White Chinese Phoenix"") Castle. The park also has a variety of facilities brimming with history, including the Ninja Museum of Igaryu, which is filled with tricks such as secret doors and revolving walls; the Haiseiden, a building whose design was inspired by the traditional travel garments worn by famed haiku poet Matsuo Basho; and the Basho Memorial Museum. The Ninja Museum of Igaryu notably holds demonstrations of Iga-ryu ninja techniques and is a fun destination for everyone from history fans to small children. The park has also been planted with seasonal flowers and is a renowned destination for cherry blossom viewing in particular. In April when the cherries are in bloom, many people come to the park to take in their beauty."

    Designated a National Historic Site in 2011, the Matsusaka Castle Ruins are a symbol of Matsusaka with the proud stone walls still standing. The cherry trees, wisteria, and ginkgo trees are familiar throughout the four seasons, and visitors can take in at a glance a view of the townscape which still bears the vestiges of the castle town. There are many sights to see such as the Museum of Motoori Norinaga, the Museum of History and Folklore, and the old samurai homes of Gojoban Yashiki.

    These castle ruins are located a 15-minute walk from the Tsu-Shimmachi Station onKintetsu Nagoya Line. The castle was built by Oda Nobukane in 1580, and later in 1611, a master castle-builder by the name of TakatoraTodo, ordered a major renovation of the castle. It was designated as a prefectural historic site in March 2005. The emotive scenery of the cherry blossoms in spring, the hydrangea in summer and the red leaves in fall have become well-known and it is now a popular place for residents of the city to come and relax. In spring especially, the contrast of the mossy stone walls and the cherry trees are particularly beautiful, making it a famous spot for cherry blossom-viewing in Tsu City.

    "These castle ruins were built during the Warring States period on one corner of a hill in Kiwa-cho, KumanoCuty, Mie Prefecture. It was built by Todo Takatora, a vassal of Hidenaga Toyotomi and expert castle-builder. Hirayama Castle was constructed using a combination of medieval and modern techniques and retains its original shape at the time of its construction, so has been designated as a valuable national historical site. Maintenance and restoration work, such as the rebuilding of stone walls and creation of footpaths have made it easy for anyone to freely visit the ruins. It is also a famous flower-viewing spot, and the fantasy-like castle walls that can be seen rising in the morning light have gained it the name of ""castle in the sky""."

    This park was created in the Honmaru and Ninomaru ruins of Kuwana Castle, and is located an approximately three-minute walk from the City A Circulation Bus Honcho bus stop. Formerly known as Ougi (fan-shaped)-jo Castle, it retains the atmosphere of a castle praised as the Castle of Kaido. It is a place for residents to relax where many varieties of flowers bloom depending on the season. Inside the park is Chinkoku Shukoku-Jinja Shrine that is dedicated to Matsudaira Sadatsuna and Matsudaira Sadanobu. In addition, you can find in the park the site of Tatsumi Yagura Turret, which served as a symbol for Kuwana Castle, and a monument dedicated to the souls of those who died in the Boshin War built in 1887 at the site of the castle keep.

    Okamoto Munenori built Kameyama Castle in the city of Kameyama, Mie Prefecture, in 1590. Tamonyagura built in the late 18th century, was first used to store weapons but in the Meiji period (1868-1912), it was used as a factory for cotton floor coverings to assist the former samurai in making a living. In 1953, it was designated a Prefectural Historic Site, as the only remaining castle buildings in the prefecture. Its surroundings are pleasing in any season, as visitors enjoy the cherry blossoms in the spring and fallen snow in the winter.

    This site of a ruined castle is located in Ueno, Kawage-cho, Tsu City. The castle was renovated in 1570 by Oda Nobukane, younger brother of the powerful samurai lord Oda Nobunaga. After the downfall of the Azai clan, who opposed Nobunaga, Oichi, Nobunaga's younger sister, moved in with her three daughters. Today, the site of the castle is maintained as Honjoyama Youth Park, and from an observatory situated where the original castle tower stood, visitors can get a sweeping view of Ise Bay and the Suzuka Mountains.

Spread across the eastern side of the Kii Peninsula, Mie prefecture boasts hundreds of kilometers of pretty coastline comprising the oyster-rich Toba city and Shima National Park all the way down to Kumano, a city that marks the beginning of part of the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage, which runs into neighboring Wakayama prefecture. However, Mie is best known for the Ise Jingu Shinto shrine inland, one of the oldest and largest shrines in the country.
