Tsu Castle Ruins
These castle ruins are located a 15-minute walk from the Tsu-Shimmachi Station onKintetsu Nagoya Line. The castle was built by Oda Nobukane in 1580, and later in 1611, a master castle-builder by the name of TakatoraTodo, ordered a major renovation of the castle. It was designated as a prefectural historic site in March 2005. The emotive scenery of the cherry blossoms in spring, the hydrangea in summer and the red leaves in fall have become well-known and it is now a popular place for residents of the city to come and relax. In spring especially, the contrast of the mossy stone walls and the cherry trees are particularly beautiful, making it a famous spot for cherry blossom-viewing in Tsu City.
