Shizuoka Haibara-gun Kawanehon Cho Sumatakyo Sen Gashira 372
A restaurant and souvenir shop located at Sumata Pass Hot Spring Resort in Haibara County, Shizuoka Prefecture, near the Yume no Tsuribashi Suspension Bridge. It is famous for its handmade soba noodles and bracken mochi and is proud of the al dente texture of its noodles. Its menu of prix fixe meals includes items such as venison sashimi and grated yam and a full range of light meals, such as mountain yam mochi dipped in a sweet and spicy miso sauce. Summer specialties include wasabi soba, made with carefully selected wasabi, and shaved ice made from natural ice of natural spring water. Since the restaurant opens at 6:00 a.m. early morning hikers can stop by for coffee or other beverages after walking.

A fine exhibition (entrance if free), housed in a wonderful log house. Fascinating paper-cut art (done with a razor-blade), a collection of local artefacts and items connected with the tea...

Shizuoka Haibara-gun Kawanehon Cho Shimonagao 453-3

Shizuoka Areas

around-area-map

With the giant Pacific Ocean to the south and the great Mount Fuji to the north, Shizuoka prefecture is blessed with some of the best views the country has to offer. The white sand beaches of the Izu Peninsula are a rare find on mainland Japan, neighbored by beautiful cliffs, tumbling hills, and natural hot springs. As Japan’s largest producer of green tea, the age-old tradition of tea drinking is ubiquitous in Shizuoka, from the miles of tea fields to the old tea houses hosting traditional tea ceremonies.
