A number of precious items are on display—items from his childhood, from his days with the Yomiuri Giants, and from his days in the US Major Leagues. The wonderful array of documents and goods are sure to please any fan. five minutes by car from Komatsu Interchange on the Hokuriku Expressway.

A museum located in Naga-machi, Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture housed inside a relocated building which once belonged to Nakaya Yakuho, a long-standing medicine company which was established in 1579. The building, an extremely valuable cultural property, was originally built in 1878 on the occasion of a visit by Emperor Meiji and the exterior remains unchanged from that time. Inside, visitors will find a recreation of the “mise no ma” parlor used by Nakaya Yakuho to serve customers during Japan’s feudal domain era. The second floor serves as an exhibition space displaying materials related to the culture of the merchants who once lived in Kanazawa, traditional wedding implements, and everyday tools once used by shops of old in the area.

On our tour of the Naga-machi district area we were invited into this museum by a lovely man. The museum only costs 100yen which is way too little for all the things that shows:a perfect...

This is an art museum produced by a world famous pastry chef called Hironobu Tsujiguchi who is from Nanao City in Wakura Town, Nanao City, Ishikawa Prefecture. The facility has three sections: an exhibition of sugar artworks by Mr. Tsujiguchi, a “Café” that provides original sweets and a shop called the “Patisserie Boutique” that sells take-out items such as cakes and baked goods. Not only can visitors enjoy the fusion of sweets and art, but original sweets available only in Wakura are also popular.

The Kanazawa Noh Museum is located adjacent to the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, on Prefectural Route 10 in 1 Chome, Hirosaka, Kanazawa City. The Museum collects and exhibits masks and costumes from the “Kaga Hosho” tradition (a style of Noh drama that developed in the Kaga Domain), which has been designated an Intangible Cultural Asset by Kanazawa City Government. The Hirosaka district, where the Museum is situated, has a strong association with Noh drama, as this is the district where the old Kanagawa Noh Theatre was located.

The museum is on the main road and is not in the fine arts museum. We enjoyed taking pictures dressed in the noh outfit. Not much to buy. Super glad we found the place. It near the Kenrokuen. Exit on...

A museum dedicated to Wajima lacquerware located near the Shinbashi Bridge in the heart of Wajima. The museum was recently remodeled in 2015. Inside its bright and spacious confines, visitors can view many examples of Wajima lacquerware. There is a gallery and shop on the first floor which sells lacquerware products from some 60 artisans and shops in the city. The shop's large selection spans items for everyday use like lacquered chopsticks, to gorgeously painted decorative lacquerware pieces. The second floor exhibition space has two rooms. The first exhibition room presents how lacquerware is made. The second exhibition room conveys the depths of Wajima lacquerware, presenting the history and culture of the craft, examples of the lacquering process, and historical materials.

We stopped at this small museum while visiting Wajima. The museum has some very nice displays of laquerware and also does a nice job of explaining how these pieces are made. This is worth a stop if...

Full-fledged construction on Kanazawa Castle was begun in 1583 by samurai general Maeda Toshiie after the Battle of Shizugatake. The rear Ishikawa Gate, facing the Kenrokuen garden, was once known as the Karamete (“back”) Gate. Records state its current name is derived from the fact that it faces the direction of Ishikawa County, and today it is used by countless tourists as one of Kanazawa Castle’s main gates. The complex structure consists of the two–tier, two-story Ishikawa Yagura turret and multiple gates, and it is believed the purpose of this design was to slow enemies in the event of an invasion. At night, visitors can enjoy the beauty of the castle lit up by lights.

Widely known as a temple which grants wishes, the temple is popularly visited by worshippers from around the country. The way to pray for your wish is unique-wearing a cord tied to a sign with your wish on it around your shoulder, you must circle a path called the ""Road of Happiness"" encircling statues depicting arhats and the 12 signs of the Chinese zodiac three times counter-clockwise. Some of the temple's many other highlights include the ""Kofuku Jizo,"" a statue of Kshitigarbha which grants people's prayers for children and healthy child growth; a white statue of the deity Fudo which grands beautiful skin; and a Daruma statue which grants improved luck."

"A Shinto shrine more than 1,200 years old located close to Ataka Beach. Based on the legend of the samurai Minamoto no Yoshitsune and the warrior monk Benkei as retold in media such as the famous kabuki play ""Kanjincho"", this shrine is the only one in the country dedicated specifically to overcoming adversity and many worshippers offer ema votive tablets to the shrine in the hope they will overcome their own difficulties. Some of the shrine ground's highlights include a pine forest selected as one of the most beautiful stretches of pine dotted sandy beach in the country, and a monument inscribed with a poem by Akiko Yosano. The shrine can be chartered to conduct a Shinto style wedding ceremony in front of the main shrine with traditional gagaku and kagura music. The shrine, its ema votive tablets decorated with kitamaebune ships, the Kishu Festival, and the Ataka Festival were registered as part of the Kitamaebune Port of Call Japan Heritage entry in 2018."

"A museum located on the tip of Kanazawa Port which presents the achievements of mechanical doll maker Ono Benkichi, displays Japanese karakuri mechanical dolls, and contains interactive exhibits on karakuri. Ono was an inventor who lived in Ono Village (now Ono Town) in Ishikawa District at the end of the Edo period. Using what was then cutting edge technology, Ono created a variety of inventions, and the karakuri dolls he crafted during his lifetime are a testament to his mechanical skills. The museum presents the world of Japanese karakuri dolls with a focus on Ono. The museum's exhibits include well-known karakuri dolls such as a tea carrying doll, and also occasionally holds demonstrations which enable visitors to view the dolls in action up close. Visitors can also see a ""nozoki karakuri,"" a mechanical stage show consisting of a series of pictures viewed through a peephole which was popular with children in the Edo period. Twice a month, the museum holds interactive workshops for elementary school aged children."

A history museum located in No-machi, Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture situated on the former site of the Yoshiyonero tea house; the museum building recreates what the tea house once looked like in its heyday. The Yoshiyonero famously served as the setting of the Taisho period novel “Chijo” and an exhibit presenting materials related to its author, Seijiro Shimada, can be found on the first floor. The second floor is a tatami room with lovely rouge walls; the room is decorated with various articles appropriate to the tea house neighborhood in which the museum is situated, including gold leafed and lacquered ornaments, sensu folding fans, a shamisen, and taiko drum. Volunteer sightseeing guides who will provide a walking tour of the nearby area are also regularly stationed at the museum.

One of the six teahouses located in the Kenrokuen garden. The teahouse existed from the time Maeda Tsunanori, fifth lord of Kaga Domain, created the Kenrokuen, and it is believed that it was primarily used for conducting the tea ceremony. The 10 and eight tatami mat rooms on the garden side and the connecting enclosure have been restored based on original ground plans. Until the original teahouse was demolished in the early Meiji period, it stood in front of where the garden fountain is now; the teahouse was rebuilt in its current location in March 2000. Today, visitors can enjoy matcha green and sencha green teas here for a small fee. Many people stop by to have a cup of tea and a Japanese confection while strolling the garden.

700 Yen and 10 minutes later we got to sit down, drink a cup of tea and eat piece of cake. There is nothing happening, no ceremony, no ambience, just a big room and a bow when the tea is brought.

Myojo-ji Temple in Hakui City, Ishikawa Prefecture is the head temple of the Nichiren school of Buddhism in the Hokuriku region; it is the largest temple in Northern Ishikawa (the region that was formerly known as Noto Province). Ten of the buildings within the temple precincts have been designated as National Important Cultural Properties; unusually, three of these buildings—the Soshi-do hall, Hon-do hall and Sanko-do hall—are laid out in a row, a practice which was unique to the Nichiren school; the Myojo-ji Temple is the only temple in Japan where the buildings arranged in this way have retained their original appearance. The Myojo-ji Temple also has the only five-storeyed pagoda in the Hokuriku region; built on top of a small hill, it has become a famous symbol of the Temple.

This place was very calm and tranquil. A small admission fee, but an excellently maintained temple, a pleasant and quiet walk through took about an hour.

The museum is housed in an estate which was built by a kitamaebune ship owner in 1876. The museum's many exhibits include ema votive tablets decorated with ships used to pray for safe voyages, model ships given by ship builders to ship owners, sailing instruments, furniture used on the ships, and more. The 2,000 lacecap hydrangeas which grow in the inner courtyard come into stunning bloom from mid-June to early July."
