It has been designated by the city as a Cultural Property. It is said his remains were cremated at this temple, which he himself had revived, after he met his untimely death at the home of his lord, Uesugi Sadamasa, which is believed to have been located in nearby Kasuya. There is another grave of Ota Dokan at Daijiji Temple in nearby Shimokasuya, Isehara City.

They are Nationally Designated Ruins.

    Kanagawa Yokosuka-shi Nishihemicho 3-57
This pair of memorial towers, located a 20-minute walk from Keikyu Anjinzuka Station and Hemi Station, stands on ground which belonged to Englishman Miura Anjin (William Adams), who gained the trust of shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu and served as a diplomatic advisor. A 1905 excavation discovered hair and other relics and determined that this place was the location of his grave. The tuff tower on the right is Anjin's grave, while the andesite tower on the left is the grave of his wife. The graves are located in Tsukayama Park, which boasts fantastic views and which is also a famous destination for cherry blossoms; a festival celebrating Anjin and a cherry blossom viewing event are held in the park in spring.

Kanagawa Areas

around-area-map

Kanagawa prefecture acts as an extension of the Tokyo metropolis that spills over into coastal towns, most notably Yokohama city, heavily populated and known for its Chinatown and seaside attractions. Just the right distance for a day trip out of Tokyo, Kanagawa is home to some of Tokyo’s most accessible beaches, including around Kamakura, best known for its Big Buddha. Visitors can also travel a little farther afield for a weekend at Hakone onsen town.
