    Tokyo Sumida-ku Yokoami 1-4-1
Located near Ryogoku Kokugikan, the museum has been popular since its opening in 1993 as a place to reflect on the history and culture of Edo Tokyo and to consider the future of the city and people's lives. Many foreign tourists visit this facility to enjoy learning about the city, its culture, and the lives of the people of Edo Tokyo.

Well worth a trip - lovely exhibition, amazing building. I spent around 3 hours looking at the various displays. Truly fascinating and gives a great understanding of the Edo period. Staff were...

    Tokyo Sumida-ku Yokoami 1-3-28 (Kokugikan 1F)
This museum is located within the Ryogoku Kokugikan, and was created to gather and preserve materials related to Japan’s national sport of sumo. The woodblock prints, banzuke (official listings of rank), and ceremonial aprons are sure to delight not only sumo fans but foreign visitors and children alike. In addition to exhibits that change at a pace of six times per years, photos of yokozuna (grand champions) adorn the museum as a permanent exhibition. Admission to the museum is free (though during the three Grand Sumo Tournaments held in Tokyo annually the museum is open only to people actually attending the tournament).

My girlfriend wanted to see the famous Sumo museum, so we made a special effort to go out to Sumida on our last day in Tokyo. Took us at LEAST an hour to find the place - not even the locals seem to...

Tokyo Areas

The setting of countless iconic movie scenes and the inspiration for songs, poetry, and literature worldwide, Tokyo barely requires an introduction. It’s hard for the kaleidoscopic neon lights, wacky pop culture, and some of the world’s tallest structures not to instill excitement in any first-time visitor to Tokyo, whether you’re in the very center of the hustle and bustle in Shinjuku or Shibuya or looking in from the quieter suburbs.
