    Shinshuya is located among a row of cherry trees standing on along the Ogawa River, considered one of the 100 most beautiful rivers in Japan. This café is housed inside a remodeled shop building constructed in 1905. The shop was a part of the local community throughout the Meiji, Taisho, and Showa periods, and the building still retains an air of these bygone times. The café is located on the first floor, while the second floor serves as a rest space from which visitors can view the row of trees outside. Shinshuya offers soft serve ice cream made with milk provided by local dairy farmers, coffees from around the world, knickknacks, and silk goods. Tourism information is also provided here, and the staff at Shinshuya can tell you about local area highlights.

    由緒ある雄川ぜきのほとりにあります。川の流れを見ていると、とても心が癒されます。まるで武家時代にタイムスリップした気持ちになります。店内の名物は、なんといっても有名な”シュウマイ”です。生姜がきいていて、さっぱりした後味は絶品です。きっとまた食べたくなります。

    Very cosy and friendly cafe. The owner makes her own cakes. Large selection of different types of coffee and teas. We had the strawberry tart and chocolate gateau with Pu er tea.

    This café is located inside an old renovated row-house and is only a one-minute walk from the Tomioka Silk Mill, one of Japan’s Cultural Heritage Sites. On the first floor is a gelato shop where only the finest ingredients and seasonal fruits are used to create 22 different flavors of gelato. The second floor is the café which sports a rustic hide-away feeling while CDs displayed on the walls give it a stylish air. Pasta, lunch plates, and curry along with alcoholic drinks are also served.

    富岡製糸場を観光後、立ち寄りました。天気の良い日だったのでジェラートを選びました。種類も豊富で変わり種もありました。二階の席で食べましたが平日の昼間だったからか貸し切り！広々したソファー席で頂きました。お店の雰囲気も良かったです。

    自分が訪れた時は他にあまり客がいなかったので大変に寛ぐ事が出来ました。高崎駅直結の商業施設内にあるのに静かな時間を過ごす事が出来る、意外な穴場だと思います。ランチ替わりの軽食メニューもありますし、コーヒーショップチェーンよりはお値段はしますが時にはこんな雰囲気のお店もおすすめです。

    何度もお店の前は通っていましたが、訪問したことがなく、初めてお友達と行ってみました。 お抹茶アイスの食べくらべを頂きました。こういうのって、なかなか食べ比べることができなので、楽しく頂けました。

    『ザクザク・ピーナッツ・チョコクロワッサン』をテイクアウトでいただきました。クロワッサン→チョコクロワッサン→ザクザク・ピーナッツ・チョコクロワッサンへの進化は、スイーツへの変化です。朝食には向かないですが、コーヒーには会います。
