    The Fukushima Prefectural Museum of Art which is only a few steps from the Bijutsukan Toshokan Mae (Museum and Library) Station. It is located at the foot of Mt. Shinobu which is the symbol of Fukushima City, surrounded by rich nature where the chirping of wild birds can be heard, vast grounds of many trees and flowers, wide lawns and a Japanese garden. The museum has a collection of over 3,800 art works, including paintings, woodblock prints, sculpture and handicrafts. A collection of overseas art works of European Impressionists such as Monet and Gauguin and modern American realism paintings are displayed. In addition, there are also many works of art by artists from Fukushima Prefecture such as artist Sekine Tadashi and a print artist, Saito Kiyoshi.

    県立図書館と併設されていて、かなり巨大な建物となっている。 中のホールなかなか凝っていて柱に石材を使っている。コレクションはまーまー。

    This art museum houses the collection of Tsunoda Rinbe Shutoku, a member of the House of Peers. Approximately 400 paintings and calligraphic works by representative artists from the Edo period (1603-1868) to the early Meiji period (1868-1912) are on display. The facility was named using his pen name, and has themes that change every three months. You can see a number of masterpieces that have been designated as Prefectural Important Cultural Properties. The adjoining Western-style building built in 1883 is the former Date County Office. Both buildings are widely recognized as cultural symbols of the town.

    常設展示のほかに企画展示もありました。作品は2階に展示ありゆっくり見学できます。1階は昔の小学校の懐かしさを感じます。校庭や景色も癒されます。館内の人も親切で福島のやさしさも感じられます。
